I thought he deserved his own thread for his PS premiere. A local Savannah cat breeder is going thru a divorce and had to sell a lot of her cats so I picked up this sweetie yesterday so Juba Kai would have a playmate. Taji, is a brown spotted F6C Savannah and Juba is an F2 which means Taji is far more removed from his serval ancestors than Juba.

These next few pics show them getting to know each other thru the door. In the last pic, Juba is on his back, belly up, & begging Taji to come out and play.

Come on out & play, pleeeeze.

Absolutely precious! Both Taji and Juba are so gorgeous!

AWWWWWWW! Congrats on the new addition!

I want to see them playing! When do they get to play together? You must post pictures once they start playing! Gorgeous babies!

LOL! Well since Taji has been here a bit over 24 hours, I think I''ll give him a few days to get his paws under him before I let them play for serious. They did meet accidentally for a few minutes today and Juba was so delighted at the prospect of a play buddy he was nearly beside himself. They played for a bit but Taji is just a teensy weensy bit intimidated by Juba''s size. I want to be sure to take it slow so Taji feels safe. Don''t worry, I''ll take pics of them playing.

What a cutie!!! How old?

He''ll be 4 mos old on Nov. 28.

Adorable! I''m not familiar with Savannahs but I love seeing them here on PS. I''ve never seen one in real life.

Random comment: One of our cats lies on his back just like the kitty in your avatar, Matata. The only difference is that usually he also positions himself so he''s bent in half. It''s so funny! I wonder why cats do that.

Ahhhhh!! how sweet.

OH MATATA!!!

What a darling, beautiful baby!!! SOOOOOOOOO handsome!
And what a perfect set-up (the glass doors) for letting them get to know each other a bit.

TWO Savannahs?!! How exciting! I cannot wait for more pics and STORIES! Savannah parents ALWAYS seem to have lots of fun stories!!

so cute!

Can we see more...pleeeease?!!! :) And how are they getting along?

After I got my Siamese, I brought 2 cats in that I was going to 'cat sit' for the summer, but my baby FREAKED OUT...i had no idea you were supposed to integrate them slowly, etc., and then after I gave them back to their owner and told her I couldn't keep them, I tried to integrate slowly with the new kitty I got as a play mate for my Meezer (that's slang for siamese
2.gif
LOL), but they've just never really gotten along all that great, and actually the Siamese gained SO MUCH WEIGHT in the first few months because he ate ALL the food so the new guy couldn't get it. Needless to say, I didn't realize what was happening until it was too late and he already weighed a lot.

This is a really interesting article! I've never heard of or seen Savannahs and never knew anything about them! http://www.hdw-inc.com/savannahwhatis.htm

Awww. Taji is so cute! What a sweet face. And Juba is just adorable!

I''m curious to hear how the introductions go. We have an F2 Savannah and she doesn''t really get along with our Bengals. Well, actually it''s the Bengals that don''t like her. We took a week and introduced them slowly, but they just know she''s different. It''s funny... they''ll walk up to her, stick their nose deep in her fur, smell her and then hiss and walk away. It''s so weird! They don''t do that with each other. I wish we could get another Savannah so our Zoe would have someone to play with.

Would love to see more pics.

Hey I was just wondering where did you get your cats? I tried posting in the savannah thread but I think it is closed. Me and my boyfriend are SO interesting in getting one. We have two cats already, and the boy, louie, a beautiful tabby cat, loves other animals (cats and dogs) and I know they would love each other!

I got Juba from Avalon Savannahs and Taji from Lequoia cattery. List of breeders can be found here http://www.savannahcat.com/public/index.php

Be sure you want to do this because your life will not be the same. They aren''t like other cats -- they''re similar to a combo of the best traits of dogs & cats combined which means they want attention and will literally stick to you like velcro -- even if there are other cats in the house to play with. It''s a completely new experience for me and I''ve been a cat person all my life. All of my other kitties came from animal shelters and while one or two were pretty bright, none of them came close to the intelligence of a Savannah. And, if you adopt a Savannah and find that you need to rehome it, keep in mind that after they reach a year, they have a tendency to either go psycho or die of depression if rehomed because they become very attached to their owners. I first brought a year old home from Lequoia last Friday night and he curled up in a ball, did not eat for 2 days, and decided he was going to die so I took him back on Sunday. He missed his humans so much he simply couldn''t adapt to a new home. I would have had to try force feeding him which would have been grossly unfair to an already stressed cat.

How ya doin'' soul-mate kitty luvvver! Juba and Taji had short supervised play periods together yesterday. There were a few times when Juba had to be put in time-out because he decided that if it was small and furry, it must be food
1.gif
but by the end of yesterday he was gentling down. Now he''s feeling blue because he realized he''s not da baby anymore so we''re lavishing him with attention so he doesn''t begin to resent Taji. What was really funny yesterday is the time-outs. I keep a crate in Taji''s room and rotate Taji and Juba in the crate so they can sniff each other without all the pouncing and I put Juba in there when he needs a time out. So the 2nd time he got rough, I started to grab him and he looked at me and turned around and put himself in the crate. I''m telling you, these cats are so smart they''re scary.

Chili is, ahem, a tad spoiled, the level of which increased significantly last month when Jon''s parent''s visited. He''s promised me new pics and if I ever get them, I''ll be sure to post them.

Those are Gorgeous cats! I have never seen anything like them! I hope they get to be best friends!

Oh you wouldn''t believe the fun we''ve had... Taji explored the entire house last night with Juba acting as security guard. When Taji would get insecure about where he was, he''d run under Juba''s tummy and they would walk around like that -- Juba waddling around with his legs spread to give Taji room and Taji toddling along under Juba''s swaying belly. Way too cute. There was much butt & ear cleaning on Juba''s part, and lots of head butts and body rubs on Taji''s part so by the end of the evening they were as well-matched as peanut butter ''n jelly.

And then Juba spent time teaching Taji bad habits like -- helping with the dishes

and jumping on the counters...sorry it''s blurry -- they''re faaaaast

counters.jpg

and crowding mom in the shower

LOL, they are so CUTE
