Actually I was planning on looking for a cognac diamond but Africa gems was having such a good sale that I couldn't look away from the great price they had on a natural color cognace S1 diamond so I had to buy it, so just planning on looking and awwing at beautiful jewelry and stones :)

I'm like 10 minutes away

If I didn't have stupid car to get serviced it would have been saturday/sunday. alas, will have to be friday, I have the day off with nothing to do.

It'll be hard but I have to be good :saint:

Is this even possible?

Can't wait to hear about all the adventures. :naughty: ;) Have fun!

Oh man, I wish I could go! I'll actually be in Boston this weekend but all tied up with a friend's wedding.

I swear traffic around here has gotten to be absolutely ridiculous. I left to go about 1:30, thinking I would be ok after the lunch traffic but I was so obviously wrong!! So I didn't make it, my disgust got the best of me.

So I will either do it Saturday (unless traffic doesn't cooperate yet again) or Sunday. Mother's day I would figure wouldn't be as busy but lets see. I'll put off the car stuff for a week, its just an oil change.

Oh and I was pretty much ordered to have some fun :appl: :saint: Since we're moving next month I don't feel I can go all out.

Bummer...I was hoping someone would post so I could decide how much effort I made to go (a lot going on this weekend and usually save my spending for Chantilly in August). Heads up that parking can be a little bit of a walk if you don't get there early (unless its later when folks are leaving). I have a pile of free passes in my mail but just remembered that one came via email. If anyone who has already posted they are going wants to contact me via LT tonight, I would be happy to forward.

I'm local, checking it out on Saturday!

So my plan on not buying anything failed, and I bought a 6x4 tsavorite garnet and setting, and even had it set at the show today. It definately has inclusions but for the price it was great. Here is a pic, but for some reason it seems lighter in the pic and doesnt capture the richness and glow as I see in person.

Very nice!! Nice color and I love the simple setting with finger coverage. Would love to know where you bought the stone and setting and/or any vendors you found that you would recommend. So many of my vendors have stopped going to Marlborough (or are planning to) and so I'm always looking for new ones.

I got both the garnet and setting at Best In Gems, and paid $15 and a vendor booth to set the stone in the setting. I forgot to mention the setting is 14k white gold diamond accents.

Thank you...I will need to check them out :)

ohhhh, love your new ring userangl!!! Beautiful color of green, and impressive that you got stone and setting today, PLUS had someone set it! Nice work!

Thank you :). I had a lot of fun, but I was a little disapointed because there were really only two vendors that weren't in the wholesale section that really had a variety of loose gemstones. I was hoping to have more vendors selling loose stones, though the jewelry was beautiful :)

Yea I thought Prima gems would be there so I was sad not to see that vendor there.

As I mentioned a lot of regular vendors are skip as the sales aren't worth the cost to get there. Chantilly has more (FGS, Prima, Vance). Thee 4th of July show is half empty because it's a loss for many (That being said, I actually got the ring in my avatar at a 4th of July show because the vendor wanted to at least break even on the show and said to just make an offer). The November show competes with some others so a handful of regulars skip that one as well. For expensive items, I stick with known vendors so I've been behaving more and more. But it's still fun to go.

I went. Put together a gorgeous 3 stone emerald ring and left it:( I just couldn't pull the trigger. I also came close to buying a paraiba for $200. It wasn't as glowy as the ones on here, but it was pretty. I SHOULD have bought a star sapphire as I've always wanted one and could have got one very cheap.

I'm sitting here contemplating going today. It's only 20 minutes away.

Your situation sounds familiar. I remember seeing someone trying to put together a 3 stone emerald ring and her asking about getting it set. Did a person come up to you telling how much it was if you go to the setters directly? If so that was me :)

Nice to meet you to!!! Hmmmm thats hard to say..I almost regreted making my ring since I wasn't planning on actually dropping money a setting there if I did find a tsavorite garnet I liked, but as soon as it was finished being set I was estatic! and my regret was gone. I will say they had some nice emeralds there for the price, If i didnt already have one I would have bought an emerald.

If you cant stop thinking about a stone it might not hurt to go back and make sure you really want it :)

Did you see the gray sapphire? I loved it!

No I didn't but I was mainly focused on the tsavorites hehe :)

Welp. Go big or go home.
