I found nice coloured peridot, but cutting is quite strange. There is very shallow crown and huge table, which causes major tilt window. Is there reason for this kind of cutting? I have quite unique setting and would like to have as unique stone too. Is this too unique :D ?? In a bad way....

My guess is that the cutter ran out of room when putting in the crown, and was forced to go to such a low crown. This stuff happens all the time when cutting, you are faced with making a compromise, do you make a smaller diameter stone, but better proportions, or go for face up, but less performance. Pretty much every stone you are faced with some decisions like this to make.

Thanks, Gene. Quite simple and reasonable answer. Maybe I hoped little bit more. Just wonder there seem to be some kind of facet pattern on outer line, but in the middle...I don't know.... Lovely colour anyway.
