I find this a very interesting ring, so I thought I would share. It has a high colorless quartz cab dom over full of tiny diamonds (not sure of the carat weights as I do not have the paper works, DH has it)

This has been my daily RHR for the past 2 years, so please excuse the scratches and wear and tear condition.

First up, a pic of the ring, looking right into the table, just full of sparkles and lights shooting out of it! Thats what I see and its difficult to capture the sparkle/light show in pic, but you get the gist.

I have not seen anything like that in person; it is indeed a very unique piece of jewellery.

This is my 3rd attempt at posting a reply today Megeve - incase you were wondering why I''m so late to the party. Don''t know why I was unsuccessful, but my computer was moving with the speed of a slug earlier on today.

I think it''s a gorgeous ring, I thought I must have seen every possible setting permutation there has ever been, but I''ve never seen a ring like that before. Was it a stock item or did Cartier make it especially for you? (no need to answer that if you don''t want to). I would love to see it in context on your hand - and trust me honey, your hands can''t look any worse than mine do.

In fact, I am reminded of some research that was done at work on skincare (in my former life). A R&D skincare specialist I used to share an office with (Male, early 50''s I would say), went through a period of soaking one hand in milk every night, on the premise that lactic acid may have some beneficial skincare use. After a month or so, the difference in his two hands was quite remarkable.

So as soon as I hang up my trowel for the season I am going to be giving it a whirl to get my hands ready for PS photoshoots!

That''s a really cool effect. I know Stephen Dweck has done a few similar pieces (not with diamonds, but using the magnifying qualities of quartz over other gems like paua shell or tigers-eye for interesting effects), and I remember that there was a really great display in Bergdorf''s from a jeweler who also liked the technique ... hope somebody else knows what I''m talking about.

It''s a really nifty ring, Megeve, especially with the diamonds interacting with the quartz! I would love to see some shots of it on your hand ....

Yah, its like staring into a pool of sparkles and lights! especially when a ray of sun light hits it, you could see the ripples of sparkles and lights going back and froth!

I have no problem to answer that. It is a stock item! (However, I am getting my upgrade from VCA specially custom made for me in Sept)

Hand shots should be coming up! wrinkles and all!

Oooh, what kind of lactic acid is that? Any special brand? Would love to get my hands on that! I am an avid golf player and despite sunscreen of 30SPF, my skin gets too much brown spots, dry and wrinkle so easily!

Yah, fully agree! Actually the diamonds are very small but under the magnifying qualities of the quartz, the diamonds look more than double its sizes. The effect is mesmerizing!

Yah, hope somebody chime in with this technique!

Soirry Megeve, I don''t know if the research made it''s way into a product that hit the market. All I know is after soaking one hand in milk for an hour or so once a day, it showed a remarkable difference to the one that hadn''t received the milk treatment. It was smoother, and a lot less wrinkled.

We''re talking 14 years ago, so my memory of it is a little sketchy.
