Interesting antique Gold brooch - Plz HELP ID mark/hallmark

Hello! - New here.

Picked up this interesting piece yesterday.

I believe it to be gold - will test it this afternoon to confirm.

It has a very interesting design that has me stumped.

What is it? Does anyone recognize the design or mark??

Any info is very much appreciated.

Looks like a Pre-Columbian nose ornament to me.

Because yours has some type of stamping, it may be a museum reproduction pin\pendant. Or it may be the real thing!

Apparently a Colombian nose ornament is also called a "nariguera"... an this design has been used as the basis for some modern jewelry as well. OP - do try to find out more about your piece, and let us know what you find!

Haha, well the fact that I wanted to be an archaeologist as a kid came in handy in this instance!!
I had a special interest in ancient cultures from Central and South America. Yes, I was a weird kid............
