I picked this up about some years ago. It is stamped 10k on the clasp - a delicately made safety clasp (not the mass produced type, to my eye).

The brooch itself tests as 14k gold (jeweller tested) which makes me wonder if the pin was a later addition.

The centre stone is an eye clean ruby (probably synthetic, but I struggled to find striae under magnification, however there are some inclusions).

Has anyone come across similar in their journeys?

I do like it, and am considering getting the ruby valued. I realise it is probably synthetic, due to the size, but I believe some synthetics are worth something. It measures about 8mm long/6mm across. Opinions? It costs a bit where I live to get a valuation, hence the hesitation
