I've found this one on Diamonds by Lauren and have contacted David to ask him to get me a matching one, which he said he could.

What do you think? I was thinking of using these as jackets (dangling parts) to add to my RB stones, which are slightly over 1 carat each (measuring about 6.30-6.50mm in diameter, can't remember exactly). In an earlier post, I was thinking of asking Leon to make these for me. I am also thinking of NOT adding my smaller studs, as I'd said in my earlier post. I went to try on several dangling earrings at local B&M stores and the longer ones just do not look good on me, even though I have long hair.

So my questions are:

1) What do you think of the size? I am thinking of having smaller pave put around the pears. Would they still be too small compared to my RB and look "funny"?

2) What do you think of the clarity? I haven't had a chance to speak to David to see how bad the inclusions are, but the website does say it is eye-clean. FYI, my RB are VVS1, which is a bit over the top, and also the pears would be jackets so I am not overly concerned about mis-matching the clarity, at least in theory. BUT the pear is I1. Should I not even consider it?

3) Should I still go ahead and have Leon make the jackets for me? I asked around at local B&M and despite my earlier thinking (I was presumptous and wrong), they can make jackets, but I still believe that their quality cannot possibly compare with Leon's. Would it be worth it to pay $$$$$$ more to have Leon make the jackets for me?

Thank you.

I've never purchased from DBL, but to me David seems like a very honest vendor. I get scared away and then something draws me back to his site every time. I think buying an I1 from him is way more safe that picking one out yourself. I am considering a 1.26 cushion from him that is an I1 which he also labeled eye clean. I don't know...DBL has a huge following and I've never heard one bad thing about them. I think I'd go for it if I were you. Pretty earrings for pretty darn cheap!

Just my 2 cents.

P.S...are there supposed to be pics on here?

Well that sure is intense yellow huh!!!

I only have my handy dandy amazon.com diamond size chart to look at, but I think half a carat is a WONDERFUL size. I think you can go glam or casual with that size. It''s perfect!

Thanks, Luckystar.

Would anyone else care to comment? On any aspect at all?

well I think pears look bigger than rounds of the same size and the pear you linked would look bigger than the rounds you have. I would buy and eyeclean I1 for earrings in a heartbeat. I would definitely go to Leon for the jackets if he''s in the budget.

Thank you, MrsSalvo.

You really don''t think these pears are too small for my RB ? I am sorry to be a pain but I am so worried abt getting the wrong size since I don''t live in the US and for me to return them would be too much of a hassle, not to mention having to pay GST twice if I decided to change them for another pair.

HI:

I recently bought two fabulous I1''s for earrings (ideal rounds) and have no regrets. Thru the magic of PS, I was, however, able to see the stones before I bought them--in a computer conference with Wink. That helped make my decision a lot easier.

The plan for your earrings sound wonderful! I love natural yellow diamonds!!

cheers--Sharon

are you adding a pave halo around the pears?

do you have a picture of the jackets you want Leon to make?

perhaps you can give him the dimensions of your rb studs, so he can do a mock-up of how it''ll look w/ the pear? that should give you a better idea in terms of proportion.

Wow....what a beautiful pear!!

As far a size is concerned, I''m sure it would be big enough if the pear were haloed. Since you know the dimensions of both your studs and the pear, wouldn''t it be fairly easy to photoshop them together? (Easy for someone else, i mean. LOL)

If it were me, I''d probably go with David for the mounting, too. He makes some jacket mountings which I think are truly fabulous. Link: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-detachable-drop-earrings.50634/

My guess is that the hardest part will be finding a twin for that beauty....it might take some time. But if anyone can, it will be David.

I wouldn''t worry about the I-1 clarity in an FIY stone for earrings...especially if it was OKed by David.

Good lluck!

Canuk-gal, thanks for for your kind words. If I could see them in a computer-conference or a photoshop image, that''d help a lot.

MrsSalvo,

Yes, I am intending to have small pave put around the pears but not my RB. Would that be weird?

I don''t unfortunatately have a picture but something along the line of Widget''s would be nice. I am just not sure of putting together the RB (non-pave) and pears (pave) together, esp. with the size difference, even though the pears would be in jackets and not be worn with the RB all the time. I wish I could visualise them.

ForteKitty, I think I will ask David to do that, thanks.

Widget, I LOOVEEE yr earrings

. The look fabulous.

I will ask David as you suggested, thanks. Do you know if his price will be less than Leon''s? Should I ask both of them for a quote for the custom work for the jackets or should I just stick with David?

My best guess is that DBL''s would be less...

Did you ask him to guess how long it might take to find a good mate for that stone? I''d be curious...it seems to me it might take quite a while..

Widget, funnily enough, I think David said he''s already found one, but I might be mistaken. I have to admit though that I thought it''d take a while to find a matching stone, so was quite surprised to learn that he has a matching pear, but I do need to call David again. If he''s already got one, then I''d be very happy.

I think haloing the pears and not the RB would look gorgeous. I recently saw someone in a magazine have something similar to what you are describing on and it was very beautiful..

Thank you, MrsSalvo. That's very reassuring.

I am waiting to hear back from David. Let's hope everything works out.

Oh Widget, I''ve also asked David for a quote for the custom work and am waiting to hear back. thx.

Wow, just saw this thread - that''s a beautiful pear! Did David indeed find a match already? I think a halo would be scrumptious around those beauties.

I can''t wait to see the end result. I wish I had money to put towards a project!!

Thank you for yr kind words, FireGoddess and LuckyStar!

FG, I still haven't managed to speak to David due to the 12 hr time difference (he's in NY, I think?). From his emails, I gather that he has but am still waiting to speak to him to have him confirm this.

LS, my hubby has put me on another 6-month clothes/ shoes moratorium!

. I had to choose btw clothes/ shoes and diamonds and guess what won? He he

. Besides, I've been wanting yellow diamonds for years! Best thing is David said if I purchase the 2 pears together and send him a wire, he can give me a discount (oh, just had a thought, I wonder if that's in addition to the PS discount? worth asking him, no?
