I thought this was very interesting: an opal with an intaglio figure. The opal itself is very nice and so is the carving. But I wonder if it is visible in real life or if the opal wouldn''t look better just left plain.

Talk about something unique! Really interesting.

Wow, how interesting! The colors in the opal are really pretty.

There was a similar opal cameo I saw at work. It looked mostly like a lumpy opal from a distance, it was not instantly recognizable as a cameo unless you looked really close. The opal was less firey than this one though.

Hmm that''s interesting. I''d really have to see it in person to say if I''d prefer it carved or plain.

Definitely very interesting piece. I wonder how obvious it is in person.

I really really really like this and I''m not a cameo type person! I love the uniqueness. Are you going to get it?

These were popular about 100 years ago and I''ve always loved them. It''s hard to find one still intact. That looks like a beautiful carving.

Nope - at 7,250 pounds, it would need my entire jewelry budget for the decade

How large is the piece?

I love the details in it. It is from 1870, so just over a century old.

Here is the link to it and a lot of very expensive eyecandy.

It''s beautiful in the photo, off to check the link from your post.

Oh my goodness - I just went and had a look at the link!!! Some stunning pieces BUT you''d need to sell your house for most of them!

Wow, that''s really gorgeous and kind of magical, lol.

Amazing workmanship! I love how the carving follows the striations of the stone ....

Did you see the tiaras? There are some pretty spectacular ones there. I wouldn''t mind wearing one of those around the house.
