Hi!

Was hoping you can help with this. I''m currently looking at a loose stone, which will be shipped to my state first, then out to california, set in a michael b setting, and then sent back to me. So here''s the process flow:

- Loose Diamond sent to my state
- I review/approve
- Diamond shipped to Matthew''s Jewelers (Store for Michael B)
- Diamond set in a Michael B setting
- The setting now included the diamond is sent back to me

So my dilemma is how do I ensure that I''m insured throughout this whole process? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did try to search the archives a bit, but didn''t find anything that fit this case exactly.

Thank you in advance!

I thought this recent thread by Wink was quite informative and helpful regarding insuring loose stones. LINK

All of the shipping will be insured. You should send it by USPS Registered Mail. So the question is, will Michael B insure the stone as they set it? If not, then you have to get the loose stone and setting insured prior to the setting. If you want to use Jeweler''s Mutual, you can read through this thread and see the posts written by Sue at Jeweler''s Mutual and she explains the process.

Thanks!

How funny-I''m in the process of doing something so similar!

Maybe we could support each other in this insurance transit to California Michael B issue! :)

My stone is not loose it is a 3 stone setting and I need to have it appraised and then insured.

Let me know if you find out any info on insurance-I am going to look into Jewelers Mutual on Monday.

Which Michael B setting did you pick? My first choice is the 2 row flat band pave.

I''m going for Michael B trois cushion (squarish) with a round stone. I wish I could show a pic, but I can''t find them online anymore.

Good luck. Please do let me know what you hear from Jewelers Mutual.
