I'm wondering what proportion of people here get insurance for the e-ring, and how it is covered.

Jeweler's Mutual insurance

The only people who don't need insurance on a diamond ring are the ones that can easily write a check from extra funds to pay for a new ring. If the cost of the ring is no big deal, you can self-insure and just replace yourself if you lose or damage it. I do self-insure for most of my jewelry due to the fact that the premiums would be way too high to insure it all. But I have always had my e-ring insured as that is my most expensive piece of jewelry. I insure with Chubb which is no longer available as a standalone jewelry policy. You have to have homeowner's with them now to have the valuable articles policy.

We have a rider on our homeowners that list the more expensive pieces. My regular home owners gives you half if you can prove what you paid for it In 27 years of marriage I have lost of had stolen enough good pieces to be sure to be insured

I am in Canada and I use Perfect Circle by Jewelers Mutual.

Even though my ring is pretty inexpensive by PS standards, we have a separate policy through USAA for it.

I wish we had access to USAA! We have a cash-out rider on our homeowner's. I used to use JM but they're very expensive for where I live and I'm not a huge fan of the "replace with like kind and quality" type of policy.

They are awesome, and their pricing is ridiculously low - almost to the point of it not making any sense to NOT have insurance! I wish there were comparable options available for the non-military folks as well.
