GIA charges only $40 for personal inscription service.
If incribe with GIA certificate number, they have to re-examine stone, and upgrade report if over 90 days old which costs $201.
Would you recommend personal inscription? In event customer ever want to upgrade or sell stone, their personal inscription is there, so it may be an issue for next customer who buys stone, but nobody knows about incripion except original owner, so should not be an issue, right?
In case of inscription of cert #, GIA re-examines stone, verify certificate authenticity, so it assures owner that stone matches certificate which is good, but a costly process costing $201 for new cert. I wonder why they have to upgrade cert because they can just take a look at stone and tell whether it matches the certificate or not without doing upgrade of certificate.
