Hi all,
My grandmother is slowly gifting me some of her pieces. She has developed arthritis in her knuckles and it unable to wear many of her rings. This particular ring is 25 years old and I believe the style is dated. With that said, I love it and would like suggestions on a way to rework it into something that is more modern and in keeping with my style. I thought maybe switching the direction-east to west-and wearing it as a middle finger ring? My creative juices are stagnant! Helpful ideas welcome....

How about making it into eternity band?? I don''t know what your finger size is, but maybe you could do something like a double row?? Maybe not eternity but 7 stones across each row??? Thinking that would be a great look, to wear as a RHR??

That''s so nice of your grandmother!! I am sorry she''s got bad arthritis.

I love those diamond baguettes! I like Kaleigh''s idea of an eternity ring, except I would do it only with the baguettes.

Thanks ladies...I would love to make it into an eternity band, I think conceptually that sounds awesome but I just cannot visualize it. Oh, I have a size 5.5 ring finger. Wishing for that size 4:)

Sorry to hear about your grandma''s arthritis. I like the idea of an eternity band too. Depending on the size of jewelry you like you could get a ring, earrings and pendant out of this too. I see drop earrings and pendant with 2 sapphires and 1 or 2 diamonds then use the rest to make a RHR with the stones going up and down on it. I can''t wait to see what you end up making out of this.

What a lovely gift! I actually really like it as is... it does have a vintage feel. Do you think the design might grow on you? If saw a ring like that on a woman at a party, I would for sure think it''s an heirloom or that there''s a story behind it. Even if you don''t reset the stones, it really is a lovely ring.

I am obsessed with DBTY necklaces right now, especially with different shapes and stone combos, I would totally make a DBTY with these....

Gleam, I don''t dislike it...it does has a great vintage feel. I was just thinking of ideas to make it more wearable. Hummmm...DBTY, now that is a great idea!

I''m in agreement that this would make an awesome eternity (with stones to spare).

I found this picture...just to give you an idea. of course the marquise shape would be your sapphires. You wouldn''t have to go full eternity. I think it would be pretty.

I found another style! Again the marquise would be your sapphires. Just a thought....

If you go for an eternity how about turning all the gems on their sides, creating a full eternity ring by having:

marquise baguette marquise baguette marquise baguette

If you added some delicate filigree it would retain an "antique" feel. If you want a more modern look then go for smooth goldwork.

I adore this idea. With these stone shapes, I think it''s be elegant and unexpected!

Beechezz...I LOVE that second setting you posted. Thank you all so much for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

I love the eternity rings too.

You are very welcome, glad I could help! I love searching for ideas, it is so much fun. I just wish I had my own project to work on, LOL!

Yup, this was my first thought, too! Maybe you''d have some stones left over for drop earrings--I really like that idea as well.
