Good Evening, all!
I have here a very heavy 14k yellow gold ring with an unknown stone pattern. Brown and black striped,it seems more like a graphic of some sort rather than a gemstone, actually. It belonged to relatives and no one is living who can tell me its age or story.
Anyone who could I.D. it would really be helping me out. I am impressed at the weight of the gold, and am thinking that the designer wouldn't put a cheap stone inside such a heavy gold ring.

Based on the one photo, it looks to be alternating strips of tiger's-eye and onyx. It appears to be styled as a gent's ring which often were/are made with heavy gold weight, regardless of type of gemstone.

If you want to know for sure, send it in to AGL for a gem brief - which would be apx $80 (maybe more since they'd be ID-ing two stones and not one) plus cost of round-trip shipping. http://aglgemlab.com/pricelist/

I concur with the others, Tiger Eye with Onyx.

Striking ring though.

DK :))
