I think there is a lot of difference between these two brands of diamonds.

I''d suggest you contact Wink about this as he sells both brands and can probably give you the best answers regarding each type of diamond.

Since you are looking at recutting an existing diamond, the price difference is probalby not relevent.

In actuality - I suggest that you take a vacation (or at least a weekend trip) to Idaho and visit Wink so that he can show you the differences (he usually has both brands in stock). Heck, that is proabably half the cost of shipping the diamond to him anyway if you deliver your diamond to him.

Perry thanks for the idea I live in Sunny South Florida i wish someone in my neighborhood had them available for me to see.

You can probably find someone who has an 8* to look at (check out the EightStar website for dealer locations). They are great looking diamonds.

I am not sure if there is an Infinity dealer in Florida (you can check out the Infinity website to see). They are also great looking diamonds.

However, you really need to see them side by side to be able to decide what you would prefer.

Wink is the only dealer that I know that can show you that. While it would be possible to call in an infinty and an eightstar to a known Florida appraiser - that cost money as well.

For plane tickets - check out the cost of flying to Salt Lake City, and driving 4-6 hours each way compared to just flying to Boise Idaho (Wink could give you a more accurate drive time to Salt Lake City).

It would be great to see some... because they are breeds of super ideals - very best quality, technically, but slightly different looks. Just enough to allow meaningful choice.

Just IMO, of course.

I have not seen any Infinity (how many are there anyway?), other H&A and 8* yes.... and there are subtle differences of ''character'', if you wish. I am not sure I know all the factors involved (lower girdle facets, proportions, painting... what not) and eve for those I have heard of I doubt there is a good way to show them online. Seller''s pictures are rarely even handed - and even when these images do not try hard to promote of breed over the other, there is only that much a picture can show of a 3D object with complicated optics. Sad that...

As a vendor of both stones I am reluctant to go into the differences between them too much as any thing I say can be construed as self promotion which our moderators wisely do not allow here. I think that the above noted thread says it nicely, if succinctly. I am sure there are other threads that also go into much greater depth.

I think the one thing that I can say here is that if you contact EightStar they will be able to tell you who their closest dealer is, and that when you are going to look at one of their stones I will be happy to send one of Paul-Antwerp''s stones for you to compare it with. In my opinion you can not go wrong with either stone. There are good members of this board who have strong preferences for one or the other and there have been some lively discussions about the choice of one of the Hearts and Arrows quality cuts and the EightStar.
