Wow! Thanks so much for posting all those wonderful pics! It's like being at a show, right here. :)

I though all of them were marvelous but was quite taken with 312, that huge round pieced quilt. Gorgeous.

Quilting has certainly taken a jump into pure art in recent decades. Not our grandmas' quilts, that's for sure!

Thanks again!

Wow, that looks like it was a great show! I love all the statement quilts. I love when women use their art to speak to what is important to them. I think they are very powerful political statements. They leave a lasting impression.
Have you been to any of the larger shows Monnie? They are spectacular as well. I enjoy going every year. We have a large one here in CA, called Road to California, every January. The best one, in my opinion is in Houston the first of every November. If you get a chance to attend that one, go for it.

@luv2sparkle I haven’t been to any really big shows. As a teenager I went to Indianapolis and Paducah shows with my mom, but I’ve never been to a national show. If I have the opportunity I will definitely consider your Houston recommendation!

@monarch64, I haven't been to Paducah but it is on my list for next year. Another really fun one, is the Sisters Oregon show. It is the second saturday of July every year. The quilts are all hung outside all over the town. If you come early on Saturday you can watch them be hung. The town is really pretty and Bend is beautiful and has lots of outdoor activities like biking and kayaking on the river.
The thing I love about the big shows is that, because of the huge monetary rewards now, the best quilters in the world show their quilts there. It used to be just average folk (like me) would enter but once the award dollar grew a lot of talented artists changed their medium to cloth. Some of them are jaw dropping.

9C380B44-7075-4CE4-A430-6ADB69037434.jpeg I hope you don’t mind, Monnie, but I just have to show you my favorites from Road this year. These 3 were hung together and the three quilt makers were standing in front of them and discussing them. I chatted with them for a few minutes and discussed the techniques they used. I was in awe of them frankly. 07880CEA-E347-4271-B17D-5B25B0197580.jpeg

While they won awards, they were not even best of show, which is a 10k award.
