We have been debating whether to stay in town for the Inauguration. I know it''s going to be such a crazy time here in DC, but I really don''t want to miss it! I don''t think we''ll try to make it down to the parade - it''s going to be absolutely NUTS - but we did manage to score tickets to 2 inaugural balls!

DH and I are still discussing budgets, but I think we''ll only go to the Illinois one; the Obamas are more likely to stop by, and because we requested early, we''re getting those tickets for cheaper than some of the other balls! Inaugural balls are usually overcrowded and stuffy, so I''ll probably re-use a fun cocktail dress that I don''t mind sweating in

Anyone else plan to be in DC for the Inauguration?

I don''t, but many of my classmates from graduate school live in DC now, so I hope to be filled in by them!

I know of a PS'er who's daughter was chosen to march in the parade. I wish we could go to one of the balls, but it's too much for my tired self. I will be happy to see the highlights on TV.... I can't wait to see Michelle's dress. I am dying to see them dance, how fun!!!

Krissie I''m jealous! My best friend and her fiance'' were thinking of renting out their apartment, but in the end decided not to. We''re planning to catch the train early in the morning. We don''t have any tickets to anything but we don''t care, we just want to be there. Later we''re hooking up with friends to have a nice breakfast (er or brunch at that point) and relax.

We thought about leaving town since it will be a 4-day weekend, but I don''t think we will.

My building is right on Pennsylvania, and we''ll apparently be able to come in to watch the parade (I could see it from my office!). I considered doing that so the kids could see the parade, but it just seems like such a hassle, plus inauguration day is always so COLD. I think we''ll stay in our nice warm house out in the suburbs and watch it all on TV.
