In the quest to find a 3ct diamond

Have you tried Canary? How about Facets Diamond? No harm asking imo. If they have the diamond in stock you can see the diamond irl and have PS folks check the angles etc. Do you have an ideal scope that you can bring along?

I'd NOT go with Canary Diamond. I had a VERY bad experience with them, this despite having bought several items from them and recommended multiple friends. Customer service is definitely not their strong suit, and their products are poorly made, for example my bracelet which cost SGD25k had to be repaired constantly bc the main diamonds (44pts each), not the melee, kept falling out. Their diamonds are triple Excellent GIA, which as we know can include ideal cut diamonds but many are not (all Canary care about is that they're triple Excellent and they don't pay any attention to other details). And they're horribly over-priced!!

Quite unfortunate u didn’t have a good experience with them. I do agree that they only care abt GIA triple excellent, but I did manage to find some ideal cuts as well.

I think the ring I bought from them was quite reasonably priced.

Anw, canary specialises more in rare gems rather than diamonds I think?

@icy_jade i am actually not based in Singapore but I can visit Singapore when I need to. The reason I went to JP was because they carry super ideal within the nearest proximity to where I live. I think for the 3ct I will wait until they have a suitable rough and provide me with further info.

I am a bit hesitant to try other vendors either locally or in SG because based on my experience they almost always offer diamond that is not within the ideal parameters.

AIUI, Fluor only impacts in 2-3% of Strong or Very Strong Blue Fluor stones (IIRC??) so a Medium should be just fine!

As you say, though, not being able to get hold of what you want locally is not useful. Remind me - have you ruled out the US-based SuperIdeal vendors?

@OoohShiny so do you think the 3.1 F VS2 should be fine even without having to get the ASET or even though the parameter and the pic looks good it will still pose a risk unless I see the ASET?

I have not ruled out US based Super Ideal Vendors but I just feel that it's going to be a bit more difficult for future upgrade than purchasing from my old jeweler. I am going to the US mid next year though so if I go that route I can pick up the ring then.

I’m sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. I haven’t gotten anything from Canary but a friend got his engagement ring from them and was quite happy.

I know they don’t carry super ideals but what I was thinking is she could have a look at the triple ex and have folks here check the specs.

Think is yellow diamonds?

Anyway if OP is looking for a diamond that is held say somewhere in India, then anyone who can bring it in would be an option... less mark up the better of course :mrgreen2:

Oh then maybe get from US? I’m from sg and got my super ideal from US.

The thing about JP is I think they look at diamond inventory online that fit the super ideal parameters and then bring them in and brand them as super ideal. So if you are fine with that, maybe trying Whiteflash, James Allen or even BN is an option... cos the folks at PS can help you narrow the choices...

If not and if you want a super ideal with tight specs (plus you can wait a few months), then maybe HPD or BGD black? I think their custom is pretty painless. At least no harm asking...

Also depends on whether trade in policies etc are important to you ya?

Have a read of one of the wiki pages on Fluor :)
https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/diamond-flourescence

Garry has corrected my misunderstanding on %age that might suffer negative effects with Strong or Very Strong blue (it's more like 15% / 30+%):
https://www.pricescope.com/communit...o-other-similar-diamonds.241461/#post-4371647
but Strong and Very Strong Blue is not that common, and we are looking at Medium here - check out some of the other threads on Fluorescence to check out pics of Medium, I really think it would be perfectly fine!

Not being able to get an ASET means not being able to assess cut accuracy/consistency fully, but if they have decent Returns policies (with no financial penalty) you should be alright.

Do you have a copy of their upgrade policy in writing? Is it 100% towards a future upgrade? Are there limitations or minimum spend requirements? There is no hassles with Fluor?
