In search of a stone....

I am helping a male friend out who is planning on getting engaged in two weeks. He has 8500 to spend on the whole ring. He is budgeting $2000 for the setting. He wants 1 carat to 1.20 and is okay with H or I si1. (he wants big but I have given him the cut lecture). I am not a round expert and was wondering if you all could help out?

It would be a pleasure to help you Bgray! I will have a look around to see what is out there, what are you thinking of for shape, I assume it is a round he wants? If so, what type of cut, h&a or just a well cut stone?

Is he set on 2k for the setting? Does he want to go designer? For $1000 he can get a very nice setting and the extra money would let him go up in color a little, which I personally think is a good trade off.

Thanks everyone-Lorelei, Dreamer, Charmy et al! It now looks like a BDG round and the BDG fishtail with truth head....I will keep you posted
