An emerald cut under a carat will look pretty small. I''d go with a round if you''re going under a carat. Plus, you have to have higher clarity on an EC due to being able to see through the stone more easily than a round brilliant.

It''s a difficult task and even more difficult task to find an EC with these characteristics that is otherwise well cut! However, if you can find it, it will appear about the same size as a round of the similar carat weight. Tacorie-ring''s EC cut is a good example of this and you can do a search for her to see her ring.
