In need of help with Ring

Hi all,

I'm new to forums and even more new to diamonds. Hoping I can get a little assistance?

The time is right and want to pop the questions with an amazing ring. I've looked a fair bit through this forum, in a couple of jewellery shops and online. I want to get a three stone ring with diamond in the middle and sapphire sides (my partner wants sapphires)

What is everyone's thoughts on online retailers like James Allen or blue Nile?

I have spoken to a jeweller who can design me a ring to my specifications. I just don't know whether to buy the diamond off them or if they would potentially overcharge. Would I be better off buying the diamond online and assumingly saving some money and have the jeweller design and set the ring? I'm just nervous in buying something so expensive sight unseen....

I've researched the 4 C's but the prices for the same categories can still vary so much.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

Somewhere around $15-$20k Australian. Was. Thinking roughly $15k on the the diamond and $3-$5k on the ring
