Hi everyone,

My DH has been hinting that he would like to get me earrings for valentines day. Since all of you were so helpful with the selection and design of my engagement ring and wedding band I was hoping for some advice on diamonds for earrings. We are looking for H & A or ideal cut with HCA score of 2 or under. No lower than an I in color and no lower than a VS2 in clarity. Our total budget is $5,000 including the setting. Would love to have close to a half carat in each ear if possible.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Happy New Year!

What sort of settings?
Is VS2 a "mind clean" limit or would you be okay with eyeclean SI1s if they were confirmed completely eyeclean to your requirements?
Same q for H&A - is that a "mind clean" requirement or did you include that just to be sure that you're getting beautiful stones? Obviously it depends on your definition and priorities, but often the "best" stones for earrings are different from the best stones for rings - earring stones that are shallower face-up spreadier and are less affected by dirt on the pavilion, and since you don't see them from the side tilt-performance is less critical.
Do you have vendor preferences?
Do you think you'll want to upgrade the stones at some point?

Well, I love to match pairs of diamonds for studs, but your budget is right in between two major sizes! We can easily do H or I VS2 for under $4000, but it is going to cost around $7000 including settings for the .70 range!

Here are two options I found for you:

above budget:

I prefer WF because of the upgrade policy and easy matches because they cut their stones to the same specs. Mine are WF ACA .80 each H VS2 and I love them!

Hi Yssie ,

I mentioned the hearts and arrows only because I want a beautiful stone. As far as clarity, it's more a mind clean thing so I really don't want to drop below a VS2. I would like to have the upgrade option but am open to vendors that do not offer this. Still deciding on a setting but I do like the bezel settings with millegrain or a martini setting with a removable pave jacket. We are flexible on budget so we can go up to a max of $7000

I haven't had as much time to post lately as things have been a bit hectic being newly married. My DH knew I was home sick so we visited the family for the holidays. It was a lot of fun!

That is great you were able to visit family for the holidays! I hope you enjoyed your wedding, too!

I just looked because I for some reason missed when you posted your wedding band and I absolutely LOVE it! I would love to have a VC engraved band!
