In love with an imperfect asscher

the j isnt what your looking for the other has potentual..aset? grading report?

sad that the j won't be what I'm looking for since it has the bump of size. Sadly no ASET, but grading report below.

It would definitely be a bump up in size from the original one but want to make sure it still has the overall look I want.

You definitely arent wrong about the size and I appreciate your honesty!

With the help of calipers I tried to draw a 5.14 x 5.12 asscher ish shape and place it on my 2mm silver band as a test.

I would need to be thoughtful about how to set it. Maybe in a tapered setting so the stone looked bigger, or a bezel. Or maybe you are right that I need to wait for something closer to 6mm+. I guess I'm hesitant bc I know how freaking long it took me to find anything with the small table, big depth, and good performance.

I can’t wait to see it! You could try to flank it with two gemstones for coverage but of course that’s a whole different rabbit hole to go down!

not much info on the f vs2 but probably worth a look.

Thanks, Karl! In your view is the lack of info in terms of ASET worth the extra size (given that the video looks promising)? Or is that asking you too much given the vendor restrictions about commenting?

I can see why you love it.

Not an expert in Asscher. No plan to spend more time on step cuts as I already spend too much time on brilliant cuts.

But I, too, can see why you like it and what you are going after.

Good luck. I will keep following this thread.

Since JA has a return policy I agree you should get it and look at it in person. As a fellow asscher owner, imho that inclusion is going to bug. But may as well look at it than always wonder.

Another option is to have Yoram of Gem Concepts cut you a small antique asscher. His are absolutely gorgeous! That's the best way to get the cut you really want!

Ohhh... I do like the E. Teeny tiny table and some very nice flashes. The table inclusion would put me off but it's worth seeing in real life. If it sparkles hard, you prob won't notice it!

The F is also gorgeous even though it's not 1:1 (my personal Asscher dealbreaker lol). Same comment re: the carbon inclusion. The J does not give me the Asscher feels personally.

Are you gathering them together for a looksie?

Hey @lovedogs !! I think I still like the first one best :) To my eyes, it looks closest to the Octavia but you still should pick the one that makes you smile! I’m very excited to see what you think when you get it!!

Ok last option I promise! MUCH more expensive than the .85 but also gives 27% more finger coverage and looks to have a similar facet pattern (stupid IF clarity means paying a premium that I don't care about).

@Karl_K any thoughts on this?

no ASET/IS unfortunately.

h-if very contrasty some love it some dont. I like the type because of the bold patterns some dont. It is sort of the other side of the kewl street than you were looking at.

Thanks, you are awesome. Now need to decide if 27% more face up size is worth paying TWICE the price (eeeeeek)

I like it. My 1 ct asscher is H VVS. The high clarity premium isn't quite as bad when you get to H and lower color, but it's astronomical in colorless stones. I think the size will be more than worth the extra price if you happen to love it in person!

Kind of like this one:

Edited my post above to add a diamond.

Thanks for that info! Do you mean that the 1.01 H/VV2 looks similar to what you have? If so that's awesome, it's very pretty :)

bottom of the center under the table has unexplained fuzzies.
more info required if considered.

I would have to agree with Simple and Sparkly.

Yeah, she'd need an ASET. It's just one a a few with under 60 tables that aren't horrible.

It also has a bigger table and is further from the "octavia-like look" to my eyes.

Actually no, I was searching for tables under 60 because you posted stones with tables in the 50s. My small asscher is better cut than the one I linked, but mine just happens to have a 58 table which I do like for a modern asscher. Most are 60 or over. I think Octavia's have 30s-40s tables?? Hard to find anything even close to that in a modern asscher. My antique asscher has a 51 table, but honestly, it's different from a modern asscher and an Octavia. If your true love is an Octavia, I'd honestly just wait and get one of those when you can, because they truly are unique and beautiful!

Oh and one other note, that asscher above in H VVS was $3400 and mine was $5-6000!!! The prices are not bad at all!
