The OEC isn't coated, *yet*. I'm going to order a wide spectrum of Interlaps, everything from RB's to Regents to the old cuts, when my SO pays me back for the tires I bought, when he gets his severance checks. I know it sounds a bit convoluted, but I had saved some $$ for when unemployment ran out, and his severance is taking forever to get here, so we're using my little bit of savings for the major bills, and the new projects have to wait.
Then the OEC gets coated, and set, and yes, in white and yellow gold is definitely in the running. I rather like the combos since it makes it so easy to wear if you have a favorite yg necklace, or wg watch!
I've been working with a lab for a bit now, to see if a diamond dispersion coating could be put on an interlap, so that the Cz facets will stay sharper, and the Cz clearer than is normal with the material. I think Les is doing this is the 'Asha', and I actually prefer the interlap cuts to the 'Asha'. The hearts that are pictured in the thread 'Circe hearts' are an example of the coated interlaps. So far these are the only ones 'coated'. Basically the process is a coating is baked on via a laser while the stones are on a plasma sheet. Supposedly it somehow gives the first layer of Cz more strength, while an ordinary cz is supposed to be 8.5 to 9.0 on the Mohs scale, this makes it more like 9.2.
