I''m worried!!! help with ring size

I''ve been reading on PS about ring size being too loose, too tight or adding sizing beads.

I have a problem. As some of you know, my Tacori 2561 is being made now. I thought I''m a size 4.5. I got it sized at different stores. They all seem to think it might be a bit loose. At one store, I tried in a size 4. It was tight going in, but it fits fine on my finger. When we went into the store again to actually order the ring, I couldn''t even fit in a 4 and the 4.5 feels somewhat easy going in. I was a bit warm/hot that day. My knuckles are slightly bigger than my finger. My ring is a high setting with a 1ct stone. The guy said the diamond will spin, so we decide to go with 4.25 size. Now, I''m worried! Reading on PS, now I''m scared it might be better to get a 4.5 instead. I ''m scared I''ll have muffin-top on my fingers.

What should I do? Maybe 4.25 will turn out fine? (it''s pave band.. so.. I want to avoid sizing) I think it''s too late to get 4.5 now since it was ordered last Friday. HELP!

I think that sounds fine. After a few days of wearing the ring your finger will get a slight indent where the ring goes, so even if it feels tight to begin with, it will be fine after a while. My "real" size is a 4.5 but my rings are a 4.75 - my e-ring feels a bit loose when it''s cool (in fact if I try really hard I can actually shake it off on a cold day) but it doesn''t spin too much, and when I put both rings on together they are perfect.

I think I would call and change it to a 4.5... you can size smaller easier than bigger if the need arose AND when you add a wedding band your rings will fit tighter! So a little looser is better.

Byt .25 of a size is nothing anyways, so if you leave it you are probably fine too. How wide is the band?

If it is the ring I am thinking of....that is a 2mm band....thinner bands tend to fit a little looser to begin with. And it is set high, so it WILL flip around.

I think a 4.25 will be fine in this case. You will never get it perfectly right ALL the time - there will be times it is a little snug and a little loose and you need to sort of aim for the middle. You don't want it too loose it falls off when your hand is cold. 1/4 size is a really tiny, tiny difference in diameter (like 0.2mm).

The pave does not go all the way around either - you should be fine to re-size if you need to.

If you are really worried, you can call and see if they have started building it yet and can change it.

Although so tiny, it makes a huge difference to me

I fit in a 2 5/8 as recommended by Leon Mege but I am going with 2 7/8 because I like a loose fit. My current e-ring is a size 3 and it spins all of the place so I have to wear it on my right hand which is bigger.

I guess the story is ... 0.2mm sounds so tiny but makes a big difference on how it feels on the hand.

Perhaps you could get your ring sized to a 4.5 and have sizing beads put in?

My ring is sized to tad less than a 2.5 but it spins like crazy because my finger size is actually 2.25. The 0.25 size difference seems to make a big difference for me! I went with a 2.5 to make sure the ring could get over my knuckle without pulling my finger off, but I am considering having sizing beads put in after all. The spinning bothers me a lot.

according to since 1910 site.. it''s 1.7mm wide

The earliest I can call is Monday... but I dunno if it''s too late. Maybe 4.25 is alright. I just don''t want a "muffin top". I know it''s funny lol

I think 4.25 should be fine. My wedding set--2mm rings--are 4.25, but for wider rings I do 4.5. If you fit a 4 and the ring is 2mm I suspect 4.25 is a good compromise.

With such a thin band you should be fine, but if you are worried try to call. You might be fine and get it sized to a 4.5. Sizing beads are alwasy good if the 4.5 is too big after all. Though if you are wearing a band with it, I would probably go up to a 4.5 just to be safe.

I do think on smaller ring sizes the 1/4 size can make a huge difference. I know on my hand before I lost some weight a 5.5 was way too big and a 5 was way too small.

I seem to be getting in a bad habit of thread jacking this week. I am very short at around 5 foot 2. I will be very happy to have bigger fingers and about another 8 inches in height!! But I have seen smaller fingers on PS (just like labrat above). Leon said I have the second smallest fingers he has seen and told me the story about the smallest fingers.

To the OP - go with 4.25 is my recommendation. I find that most jewelers won't resize .25 after the fact.

so.. my e-ring is 4.25... and if I get my wedding band in 4.5.... maybe the fit won't be so tight together? Since the wedding band doesn't have a center stone... it should be ok?

I think a 4.5 for the band will probably be a good choice, but I do think you should try them together just in case at the jeweler. I have different sizes on my ring finger as well that allows me to stack more without feeling uncomfortable.

beezygal, we''re finger twins!!! I was in the exact same dilemma. 4.5 seemed just a bit loose, the 4 goes on, but I was scared it would be too tight, so I went with 4.25, and I''m petrified of the muffin top effect too! haha

I've been working out (gotta get into the dress!) but I've not lost any weight so I don't think that's it.. well, whatever the reason, anything that makes the diamond look bigger is a good thing, right?
