I'm window shopping--which style do you prefer?

Hi all,
I'm window shopping and there are 2 styles of antique rings I keep gravitating to over the years I've been on PS. I'd like to try to buy one and want folks' advice on which style they prefer.

1. "Starburst" style ring. Examples:

2. "Buttercup" style solitaire. Examples:

Or this one, which is kind of like a hybrid of the two styles:

This is tough, they are both great choices although I’m not a super fan of the hybrid option. What do you think you will get more visual enjoyment from? I would probably go with the buttercup because of the floral aesthetic. You can’t go wrong either way though.

Is this a daily driver? If so, the burnish star band is perfect for this.
For the buttercup I would just make sure the prong are built up- the buttercup is more 'proud' and so there needs to be solid prong structure.
For me, this is answered by a Belcher set ring. It's the 'in between' the two.

My little spinel Belcher is great because it's almost burnish set and never snags.

Personally, I'd go with the starburst type band. Buttercups are pretty but you should try one on and see how it works and compare to trying on the band. I have a buttercup setting and mine just looks kind of "off" on my finger so it may be an issue of finger shape or stone size or something, but I'm going to remove the stone and use it somewhere else. So just make sure that the style that you choose works on your hand. That's my best advice. The belcher would be my second choice.

This one is nice. Low but still a buttercup

Buttercup! I find it more unusual, and it really sets off the stone. But I agree that starburst is a great (practical) daily ring.

For an everyday RHR wear I’d chose the star flush set. But I’m itching for a flush YG ring myself!
I’m assuming you’d wear it on your RH because you have so many goodies for your left!

I vote starburst style! Though both are beautiful!

For a right hand ring, my vote would go to the starburst style, the second picture in particular. The star carving seems more pronounced, larger, deeper, almost like petals.

I have sturdy hands - size 6, short fingers - and wide bands look best on me. However love buttercup earrings.

It's very pretty!
This one is has tab prongs which a definite plus, just keep an eye on the left side as it's not fully seated. It may need adjusting.

+1 (and I love the snake too!)

I second Belcher - it's practical and frames the stone. You can think of it as buttercup, but with the middle of the petals lowered. These are modern custom, not antique. (Chrysoberyl, demantoid).

Of the starbursts, I prefer the 2nd one in the first post - the bigger stars make it look less generic.

This recent auction find has quite converted me to the comfort and wearability of starburst rings :kiss2:

(lucky find at a local auction room - it was pretty grubby and looked *awful* in the catalogue picture, which did a great job of putting other potential bidders off!)

I think a lot depends on which hand. Right hand, starburst all the way. I have one. Soooo easy to wear.
I do love the buttercup but think about it more as a left hand ring—the solitaire look.
I do not care for the hybrid.

Thanks, everyone! I think starburst is what I'll end up with since it'll be a middle finger RHR :)

Edit. If anyone sees one they love, feel free to post here!

My favorites (of course neither is for sale) are these two:

I prefer the first style! Both are beautiful, but I think the first style is more unique and elegant.

I am team starburst all the way! I have been trying to come up with a HUGE chunky version for a big asscher. These are not at all what you're looking for (I think) but photos are always fun no?
