I''m so confused!

The more I keep learning the more confused I am getting. I am going to be ordering a custom ring from WF and I had planned to use palladium. Now after reading a thread on white gold vs. platinum it say platinum is not good for intricate designs as it can smear the engraving off over the years. The ring I am ordering is going to have a lot of engraving and milgrain. Do I need to worry that this will smear and wear off over the years? I won''t be upgrading. My bf and I are very sentimental and whatever I get engaged with will be what I will have for life.
