I'm new and buying a diamond. Is this a decent deal?

The diamond is an E color, .71 carat, VS1, ideal cut.

I checked the haloway value and it scored a 0.9. Which I assumed was good. And then right before committing I requested the idealscope image.

What do you think a good value is for this loose diamond. I'm about to pay 3300 for it.

Thanks.

I'm not an expert, but to me that idealscope looks good. Hopefully someone will chime in on price. Do you have a GIA cert?

If it were for ME (which it isn't) I would also be looking at stones in the F to H (even I) color range with a clarity floor of SI1.

You could eek out more diameter, but want to be keeping the cut as highest priority.

Im pretty sensitive to color, and even an F next to an E really turned me off.

I've looked at some SI1 clarity diamonds, and they looked great to me. But I saw this diamond at this price and it seemed like a great deal.

What do you mean by "clarity floor"?

Where did you notice the difference in color between E and F? In a standard jewelry store? Jewelry store diamonds, without GIA / AGS certs, may be very generously graded on color and clarity. So what they told you was an E or an F in the store may be much lower on the scale.

I think ringo was saying that he/she would not go any lower than a clarity of SI1, aka their "clarity floor".

You got a link to.the diamond? Whats porportion like

The Iscope looks good to me.

It was a diamond store. They were GIA certified. As is this one.

Looks good, but you might want to watch for twinning wisp see if it is noticeable

A VS clarity diamond could have a noticeable inclusion? Should I send you the JamesAllen image?

Black inclusions in 8, 10, 2oclock. twinning wisp 5 oclock in the table. Its not too bad, if you dont mind some minor black inclusions.

Link please...they should have it on hold for you.

Link would be helpful for us to scrutinise the 360 degree video.

Black inclusions will bother me. I'm assuming you looked at the 360 image to see those? Will this inclusions be easy to see for someone without a loop?

Keep in mind that the 360 degree video is at 20x magnification (and I can see them if I am concentrating quite hard). Zoom all the way out to 1x magnification and see if you can spot anything then. I can't notice anything at 1x (and I've looked at the 360 degree video on a 23" monitor and on an iPad at 1x and 20x magnifications).

This one looks like an eye clean VS2 to me. Even with a 10x loupe, you may find it hard to spot the inclusions once the stone is set.

Nice diamond!
Very decent VS2!

The stone is a bit deep, but i don't see any dark inclusions...
