It sounds like you haven''t looked around that much. $15,000 is a lot of money and you said you are a novice at purchasing diamonds. I realize you are probably very excited to select a diamond but if I were you I would slow down and take some time looking at a number of stones in person at local jewelers so that you can confidently decide on color and clarity grades. Look at different color grades side by side. Check out various clarity grades with a loupe. Make sure you understand the various types of inclusions. You are planning on making a very big purchase and it helps to learn as much as you can before spending that much money. There will always be loose stones to purchase. After you do the rounds at your local jewelers you will be in a much better position to evaluate stones online.
