Unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with long, thick eyelashes and sometimes it bugs the hell out of me!

Seeing all these promos for Latisse has got me wondering if it really works.

Is anyone using it, or thinking about using it? Or maybe some tried it but didn't like...

I'd love to hear what people think before I seriously consider a consult.

The part that turned me off was one of the side effects. They said that you might get staining on your lid. I don''t know about that...

It really does work. I think it''s supposed to take a month or so to see any results though. One of the side effects is a darkening of the iris. So, if you have blue eyes and want to keep them, DON''T try this product!

It''s actually based off of a glaucoma treatment that had a side effect of increased lash growth.

The funniest thing (about the glaucoma treatment) is when I was working in the Optometrists office, I''d get all these calls from PO''d people because they didn''t want the extra lashes!!

Yea I was wondering about the darkening of lids - not good. My eyes are brown, so I wouldn''t notice my eyes getting darker but that doesn''t sound too safe either.

A part of me wants to not even bother, but then I can''t help wondering if it would really work for me.

If you really want to try it, the lid darkening happens slowly and if you experience it, you can stop using the product and it may reverse.

Why start paying for a prescription with side effects that may NOT be reversable, that you would have to take forever? Once you stop taking it, your lashes are back where you started.

It''s $100-$125 per bottle (approx 4-6 wk supply) The natural duration of lashes is 6 weeks, so after six weeks of NOT applying the product, normal lashes will begin to return (although full regression may take several weeks or months). It is meant to be used consistently.

As far as safety, (I am not a dr! ) Lumigan (which is the original Glaucoma medication) has been used for years and years. There are minimal side effects. As far as a cosmetic interventions go, this is among the safest.

I don't know anything about Latisse, but I use the Brow and Lash Serum with KGF from skinactives.com and it's amazing! Sometimes when I'm washing my eye makeup off it freaks me out because my lashes are SO thick they feel like wires! And they've gotten a loooooot longer. I actually don't even wear eyeliner anymore, because my eyelashes are so thick and long now! O, and it's $9.50.

ETA - and no side effects.

I was going to suggest the same thing!

BTW, if you do a search on "skinactives" and "Latisse" you will find some interesting info on the history of the latter. Latisse is not something I would use [and I have brown eyes already!].

Wow, it certainly appears to work but it kinda weirds me out . I would love, love to have longer lashes, but i wouldn''t take *any* chances with my eyes. I would want to know this product was extremely safe with no ''maybe'' side effects before applying it day after day.
I am blue eyed. I love their color and wouldn''t trade ''em for longer lashes.

I am however, interested in this serum jjc uses....

A girl I work with was using some sort of lash conditioner last week (not sure what) and her eyes were bothering her horribly! They were bloodshot and she said they hurt. I would skip it and use extra mascara, personally!

You may want to also look into lash extensions. Individual lashes are attached to your real lashes. They last up to two months. They gradually fall off as your natural lashes grow and shed. So, it's not like all of a sudden your lashes are sparse again. Other options are lash coating and tinting if you have light lashes.

BTW, if you do a search on ''skinactives'' and ''Latisse'' you will find some interesting info on the history of the latter. Latisse is not something I would use [and I have brown eyes already!].

This sounds interesting - (the skinactives)

My sister used RevitaLash and she liked it. I used it and it left a stain on my lid and also burned.

I just started using L''Oreal''s Double Extend Beauty Tubes mascara. It really does make my lashes look longer, and it lasts all day with no smearing etc. Something to consider until the perfect lash potion comes along.

I just got a new mascara and thought I should post here! I''m using Supershock by Avon. I don''t have thin or short lashes to begin with so when I put this on they go SUPER long and full. So long that before they''re dry I am getting black marks by my eyebrows from blinking. I was thinking that if they make mine go that crazy they should make short or thin lashes significantly fuller and longer.

Yah, I wouldn't chance it. I do have extremely long lashes, but if I didn't I still wouldn't try it... I'd just use more mascara.

I had those done twice. I hated them. They looked GORGEOUS. But, it was so hard to wash my face like normal (I couldn''t just scrub my face like normal). When I slept it was quite uncomfortable. And when they started to come off it kind of hurt!

My mom had them for a couple of years (before the economy took a turn for the worse

) and she adored them..

I thought of getting the mascara with the collagen in it. I guess I have ok eyelashes. One of the girls I work with gets fake eyelashes put on and I think she looks silly. I like full long lashes, but when they are so long and so full that it is obvious that you were not born with them then it looks nuts. I am all for enhancing what you have, but geez lets not turn into clowns here. I am going to look into that skinactive product that is $9.50. That is more my budget and wont make my blue eyes brown.

I''d never use somethiing like that.

I''d take the $100-125 amount that it would cost and buy a bunch of mascaras from Sephora and test them all out and see which one works best!!! Sephora even takes returns on products you do not like. If any of the mascaras worked terribly, I would take those back and keep the ones that are so-so to great! (Say keep $50 worth and return the other $50-75). The WORST one I tried is by Two Faced - lash injection - or some name like that so I took it back!

Also, try mascara primers and see if you can find one that helps!

Ooh! I don''t remember exactly...maybe 3-4 weeks? For me, it was one of those ''nothing...nothing...WOAH my lashes are really long and thick!!'' kind of progressions.

then BAM!

Latisse is available by prescription only...typically given to people who suffer from trichotillomania or another condition that causes them to have few/sporadic lashes. I don''t think, at this time, prescriptions are being given for purely cosmetic reasons--although I could be wrong. But my understanding, and we were introduced to this product a few years back at a skin care/cosmetic trade show, is that this product is designed to help people with aliments...but as the demand changes so will the stipulations.

I would absolutely consult your dermatologist before making a firm decision!

Bia if I were not pregnant, I would definitely try Latisse. You can absolutely get a prescription for it for cosmetic purposes -- that it was Latisse was designed for. It is the same medication as Lumigan eye drops used to treat glaucoma. Sometimes you can talk an eye doctor into prescribing you Lumigan which is a cheaper prescription than Latisse, simply because of marketing. Some women even order generic Lumigan from online pharmacies for very, very cheap but I would not recommend that. If you buy an eyeliner brush (but need to sterilize nightly) instead of using the included applicators, the supply will last much longer.

I looked into Latisse and there is a lot of misinformation. If you have blue eyes -- Latisse cannot cause a color change to the iris -- only if you have green or hazel eyes can they get darker. Even then, that was only a very rare side effect with people taking the full eye drops -- in the Latisse clinical study where it was applied to the rim of the lid only, not one patient experienced an eye color change. People did however sometimes have a darkening of the lid where the medication was applied. However, that is reversible. I would try it though, Lumigan has been used for a long time and has been studied over a good period of time, it''s not like this medication just came out.

I see the commercials and they totally freak me out. Hello, if anything is strong enough to change the color so someones eyes, that is something I would
stay away from! I know it works, but it sounds like pure craziness to me.
