I also say you forget about numbers and buy a stone that looks amazing to your eyes...

Why don't you just email Lesley or someone at WF and have them maybe pick out another ACA or an Expert Selection that looks good to them and compare with what you have.

I have an email into Denise, so hopefully I''ll hear from her on Tuesday. I guess I''ll see what she has to say, and think about it some more. I just don''t want a huge hassle over a stone that I know I''ll be trading in...this isn''t THE diamond.

Sometimes I think we can have 'unrealistic expectations'... I mean, to hear us PSers talk
sometimes about our diamonds, a newbie could begin to think that they 'glow in the dark'!!!

But, which or whatever... you should LOVE it. I think taking a few days is a very good idea... but if it still doesn't rock your world, then definitely return it!

(And FWIW, I seriously doubt if any part of the problem is the 'J' color!)

all PSer diamonds "must glow in the dark" that is the law.

Orbaya, you have to LOVE the stone, even if it is only going to be temporary until you upgrade again. Speak to WF and explain to them exactly what you don''t like about the stone and what look you would like in your stone. It is possible that they can find you a diamond that you will find more visually appealing. Remember, eyes speak better than numbers. Maybe they will allow you to hold the current stone until they send another, slightly different looking stone, so you can choose between the two. It''s definitely worth discussing with WF and see if they can find you a stone that you LOVE rather than don''t like. They are there to please.

Don''t try to convince yourself about this diamond. Send it back ASAP, and give Whiteflash the opportunity to make you happy.

This can happen when using an online vendor, so contact them immediately and work with them towards getting a replacement you are going to be delighted with.

Orb this also is a good thing because the more diamonds you see, the more you figure out what your eyes prefer...I am on my 2nd 'temp' diamond before getting my next upgrade and I really appreciate the year or so that I spend with each stone that gives me an opportunity to review how different stones look even with the super ideal or excellently cut categories. This stone I have now is better looking than my old 1.29 even though both are cut basically the same with almost the same exact numbers and great specs, HCA score, IS image etc. The 1.29 was a fabulous stone and this 1.60 is even more fabulous! So far this is my fave stone and it's not just the size. I really wish I could keep this stone for a pendant or a center stone in a 3 stone right hand ring or something, but unforunately I need the trade-in value or else I would.

I can't wait to see what I end up with next year.

Or rather I guess now it is technically THIS YEAR, 2006!

yes Demelza your diamond is very nice.
Not all diamonds with 40.6 pavilions have the problem.
The description given here is almost word for word the description I used when I saw saw a diamond with my own 2 eyes that had the problem.
If you recall Mara said they saw one with the problem and one without both with 40.6 average pavilions.

To clarify......both Mara and I were there, and I can assure anyone reading that we did not say "one had 'the problem' and one didn't."

What we said was: we were shown 3 diamonds and asked which we liked best, which we liked second best, and which we liked third-best. After making these selections, we learned that two of the stones had the 40.6 pavilion and one that didn't. Both Mara and I selected the same choices as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. One of the 40.6 diamonds was our first pick; our second pick was the 40.9 diamond, and our 3rd pick was the other 40.6 diamond.

We didn't suggest that the 40.6 diamond that came in third had "a problem".......as far as I recall, none of them had a "problem".....but if you have to pick an order.......well, one of them has to be first, one has to be second, and one has to be third. It's that simple.

It's an overstatement to say that she, I, or we classified one of the 40.6 stones as "having a problem" or that we "saw the problem".

As such, I personally think it's a mistake for any shopper to disqualify *all* 40.6 diamonds from consideration. As Demelza sees, doing so could mean missing out on a KILLER stone.

Orbaya: I agree with popular sentiment. If you don't absolutely love it, then exchange it for something that you DO love. You shouldn't settle for something that doesn't wow you.

I would return them! I started out buying two .4 ct ACA diamonds from WF and did not like them at all when they arrived! They too looked "dead" to me! I returned them and got two .5 ct ACA diamonds and they were much better! To be honest, I know what you mean about being more "shimmery" than "sparkly," and I thought I would be seeing more fire than I am, but they are undoubtably very high quality diamonds, much better than most of the dreck in the B&M stores and a friend of mine, who is always preening over her larger, but dingy and poorly cut diamond earrings, was actually speechless when she saw them. All in all I''m glad I returned the first pair and gave WF another try at a second pair. I think it will be well worth it if you do the same. All the experts here will make sure you get a diamond you love!
