Hey everybody,
So I have a question, I went to a family friend who happens to own some nice jewelry stores, and he gave me a couple options, I was wondering what you thought, and if I was getting a good deal: the first is a 0.71 Lazare SI2-J, for about $3k, the second is 0.85 Lazare VS2-I for about $4300. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My first thought is that those prices are rather high. Guess you are paying for the name. You didn''t give the other all important specs. You can get a well cut stone with ideal proportions for less by buying online. Some vendors here to check out are, www.whiteflash.com, www.goodoldgold,com and www.jamesallen.com . You can also pricescope your diamond at the top pf the page to see what similar stones are going for. Good luck!!!

I agree with the others. Those prices are too high for stones with not-so-good color and clarity. You can get a nicer stone from WhiteFlash, Goodoldgold, or James Allen. (I''ve spent a million hours on their sites, so that''s why I say that!).

Also, read about diamonds on this site and educate yourself. Then you will have a better idea whether a deal is a good one or not.

I don''t know what a Lazare is but those prices seem high! I got a .83c, G color, SI2 clarity (eyeclean) Ideal Cut GIA cert diamond for $2,800 from www.jamesallen.com
