Does anyone else collect gemstone specimens? Share photos of your pieces.
I'll start.
Purple is my favorite color so I'll start there.

First is a chunk of purple fluorite from Illinois.
The second is a piece of a small

That fluorite looks just like the trench run scene in Star Wars when Luke and the gang attack the Death Star. :D

I'm sure @Nick_G will have some wonderful additions to this thread!

I wasn't sure if it would be allowed. But there's just something about raw specimens that appeals to me. And you're right about the fluorite. That never occurred to me until you said it though.

Agreed... and I think it's because they are just how Mother Nature created them. Not mine, but dioptase geodes are my favorite. Look at that deep teal coloration. :)

This is a compound spinel crystal from Luc Yen in Vietnam. It almost looks like a geometrical crystallised raspberry!
