Hi you all!
Just came across a H&A IGI Cert for a Lab Diamond from JA.
The cert is dated from November.
Is it a new norm on their certs?!
Are the specs for H&A for IGI market standard?!
Does someone knows if the Ideal scope imagine on the Cert is from the stone certified or just a standard picture to show the pattern?

Thanks!

My IGI cert notes Hearts and Arrows as well (ideal symmetry was actually a big selling point for me). It doesn’t have the hearts and arrows diagram; The cert is dated 5/29/2020 so not old, but not as new as yours.
I would not trust the hearts and arrows diagram to be an ideal scope of your diamond, and would request an ideal scope from the vendor so you can verify.
Regarding the specs being standard hearts and arrows, if you’re referring to crown and pavilion angles, there isn’t a standard spec (although PS does have their recommended specs, and the crown angle on this falls a bit outside of that). Hearts and Arrows is a standard of optical symmetry where as the crown and pavilion angles are measurements from the diamond.
Did you put this in the HCA? If so, how did it score?
Do you have any pictures of the diamond?

Hi anangel!
Thanks for your replay!
I didn´t know IGI provided H&A for Lab Diamonds... Have seen a few from AGSL but never from IGI...
Looks like James Allen will start a H&A line for Labs as well, on the link for this gem you can see the Ideal Scope images...
(I think it´s great for newbies like myself!)

The link for the Lab H&A

I didn´t run the Lab H&A on HCA...
I actually recently bought another Lab Diamond from JA and only made the HCA score after the ring was ready... it scored 2.1 (Pavilion 41.1) and upon reading countless treads here I was considering to change my diamond for one with a better HCA score and during my search I came across this H&A

This is the Lab Diamond I bought! : )
I haven´t seen it in person though, apparently FedEx grow fond of my package LOL...

That’s so interesting - when I follow the link, I can see the lab true hearts stone.. but when I search, I can’t find lab stones that get a true hearts grade! How strange!
I’d love them to add the extra imaging for their lab stones, so hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.

Yeah I think they will introduce an option for True H&A on their website soon, like the mined diamond option... I asked one of their specialists over the chat but she didn't know when of if it would be realized.
Let's wait and see

My two lab diamonds sourced from Distinctive Gems both have H&A on their IGI certificates. Both certificates are dated May of 2020.

The idealscope images on mine are just a template and not the ones matching the individual stones, but Jon was kind enough to provide those for me.

Thanks for your answer! It's really nice to get an H&A certified... unfortunately mine is not... but I'll for sure look for it on my next purchase

There’s a True Hearts cut option in the search on James Allen for lab created diamonds now. I see 17 stones, with the largest being the 1.24 carat posted here. I’m so curious to see how this evolves - the grading reports, the pricing, and if other sites start noting hearts and arrows. I’d be interested in one in the future!

That's really nice!!! For this will help Lab Diamond clientes to choose easier for a better cut!

Just checked their website and they're already down to 10 options!

I'll definitely keep an eye on their options and decide if I should change my Lab Diamond for a H&A certified...

Just be aware that it may not actually be a hearts and arrows diamond just because it says it on the certificate. I’ve read that the cutters or suppliers can basically inscribe whatever they want. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the diamond is a hearts and arrow diamond. Best to get a hearts and arrow viewer to confirm. My diamond is hearts and arrows but it didn’t state that on the report.

@Eeveepenny I believe for all the examples above, including my own, the hearts and arrows note isn’t inscribed on the diamond. I’m not disputing that in theory someone couldn’t have something custom inscribed (I’ve read about people requesting notes like “I love you” on the girdle), but if you’re suggesting that the cutter can just tell grading company that the diamond has been cut to hearts and arrows standards and have it noted on the grading report, I think that would call into question the integrity of the grader.
I do agree one should request ASETs and consider purchasing an ideal scope since we have seen different standards of hearts and arrows from different graders.

definitely agree, hearts and arrow image is needed to confirm.
I read this when I was searching for my diamond.
