I have to highly recommend this workout DVD I''ve been doing. I got Jillian Michael''s 30 Day Shred (she''s the crazy trainer from the Biggest Loser) and it is amazing!! There are three levels...level 1, 2 and 3, and they get progressively harder. Each workout is about 25 minutes long so you can do it every single day, but it is HARD!!! I sweat like crazy and turn bright red. I''ve lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks!! I only have about 10 more to lose, so that is pretty impressive!! I just wanted to let you all know, I know many of us are in the same boat wanting to get in shape for the wedding!!

I have this DVD and i LOVE it! it IS tough but awesome! I dont know why but workout #2 is harder for me than #3.
Its those squats with the shoulder work at the end that kill me! what size weights do you use? i use 5 lbs - ughhhhhhhhhhhhh so tough!

OMG I''m so glad you''ve done it too!! How awesome and hard is this DVD!?!?!!?! I LOVE it!!!!!
I haven''t even done level 3 yet because level 2 gets me so sweaty and red that I thought I would stick with that for another week or two and then move on to level 3, but maybe I''ll try it!! I use 3 lb weights, that last circuit kills me too!!!!! The jump squats kill me but I love it!!! I can''t even believe you''re using 5 lb weights, you''re my hero!! haha!!

Oh my god, i wish i had smaller weights but its crazy! wait unti level 3 - you do jumping jacks with the weights in your hands! PAH!
but i gotta say, #2 is harder for me than 3. LOVE IT!

I am so trying level 3 tonight!! I think I can handle it. What is so funny about this is my friend thinks level 1 is harder than level 2.......I told her she is freakin crazy. hahahah!!

What equipment do you need? I might go pick it up.

All you need is a yoga mat and some hand weights and you''re set!! I highly recommend this DVD and I have turned a ton of my girlfriends on to it who also love love love it. It''s super hard but it''s so short that you can stick to it. I get sore, but not so sore I can''t do it again the next day. Go for it!!

Thanks for making the recommendation. I prefer working out at home but haven''t been able to find a good DVD. I got the Taebo (sp?) and hated it.

I''m going to buy the DVD today and check it out

No problem!! I used to do Tae-bo and I like the old videos, but the new ones are crazy. I don''t like all of those bands and stuff. I love to work out at home and loathe the gym and this DVD has been the perrrrrfect thing for me. Like I said, 25 minutes!! You can commit to doing that every day and it''s so hard!! I had to make that post because I started thinking about how many of us are trying to lose weight; I knew people would want to try it!!

Is the level 1 low enough for someone who never works out? I still need to lose my baby weight and working out at home is so much easier but I am a work out MORON.

Yes ! Definitly, level one is pretty easy, usually if i do level 1 = i will do it along with another tape too.
Have you guys ever done Turbo Jam? its great too! no weights but tough.

Ohhhh......maybe I''ll have to try it! Can you get the DVD anywhere?

I have this video too! The first time I did it I tried to do all three levels in one workout and could hardly walk up the stairs the next day!!! I haven''t done it since....I will have to give it a try again and ease into it this time.

Tacori-right now I am doing the Biggest Loser Cardio Max and it has a similar set-up to the 30 day Shred. It has 3 25min levels (I''m still on one) and I find it very challenging, but doable (unlike the Shred, but probably just because I over-did it). I would recommend this in addition to the Shred, plus it''s only $8 on amazon. I find it so funny that I can''t even do all the stuff the er, heavier, people can! They must be in wicked shape!

I love this DVD too!! I was using 5 lbs weights and I definitely need to purchase 3 lbs ones for some of the workouts. I had to stop doing it for a while because the lunges were hurting my knees. Anything I can do to prevent that?? I have those joint vitamins.

I am doing the "30 day Shred" right now. I have tried level 1 and 2, but not three yet. My plan is to do one in the morning, one in the evening, which I think I could handle. I like that it is a short workout, and I love working out at home. It''s short enough that it makes it hard to make excuses. I am VERY good at making excuses

I get so anxious to see immediate results that I give up too soon! Hopefully you all will help me to stick with it!

I have not used the video, but I am guessing the lunges are like the lunges I do at the gym.

When you do your lunge make sure your knee isn''t going over your toes. When you lunge forward your front leg should make a 90 degree angle and make sure you keep your back straight. Try watching your self in the mirror. If you are already doing them properly maybe use less weight.

Yeah, I really watch my form for that reason and I''m usually fine for several workouts. But then they start bothering me. Less weight may be an idea.

Courtney,
You could mix it up with some non weight bearing exercises like swimming, waterjogging, or "swimming" on a swiss ball or bed, Candace Parker swears by bed swimming when she is on the road and can''t really work out, I saw her talk about it in an interview once. On your tummy, arms straight forward moving up and down, toes pointed, little kicks, 30 secs on, 10 secs off.

If your knees are bothering you, mix it up, they are telling you too much lunge, listen to them

Can you get this DVD in Australia?! I am considering surgically stapling my mouth shut until the wedding

I have both the 30 day shred and the cardio max. I alternate the videos and sometimes if I am feeling strong, I will add the level three cardio max along with Jillians workout #1. I feel great and have lost about eight pounds in two weeks. I feel sooo much stronger! It took me about a month of doing the 30 day shred off and on before my body got used to it. I noticed that Jillian's cool downs are not really effective and it is better to add the more yoga type stretching to the end of her workouts. It really makes all difference

I must say that I am kinda addicted to my workouts right now. I keep telling myself that it is the favorite part of my day (even if I don't feel that way!) Good luck everyone

Ok...I''m pretty active. I run and/or walk 2-3 miles 4 -5 times a week and do kickboxing, etc. I did this video for the first time on Saturday and I''m still having a hard time walking. Forget about sitting...ouch! I''ll take this as a sign that it''s working

Honey you can find it here for $29.95 AUD :). I just did a google search and that was the first hit :).

roseg Yup that means it is working :)

I am so buying this when I am in the US :)

I did cardio max (bought both) and am STILL sore 2 days later. I was sweating up a storm!

Not sure if any of you have also read her books, but I would highly recommend the book listed below. I have really learned what food I should eat with my metabolism. I''ve lost 12 pounds so far and I''ve been following the book verbatim for the last three weeks.

If you''re interested, you can find it at target for $10.

Making the Cut: The 30-Day Diet and Fitness Plan for the Strongest, Sexiest You by Jillian Michaels.

Thomperchick...are you eating well AND exercising? That sure is a lot to ask of a girl!

Roseg - I''m exercising and being more active than I was before. I do Zumba 3 times a week for an 1 hour and a half, and I walk my dog for an hour every day. That has really helped me. Based on the information provided by the book, I''m sticking to 1600 calories a day, filled with protein and lots of legumes and fruits. It''s been hard, but I think it''ll pay off at the end since I''m learning to eat healthier.

I just went and bought the DVD, so we will have to see if I can move tomorrow! I hope I can get really toned in 30 days. My biggest problem is my belly fat, so I am really hoping this can help with that.

how many times a week are you doing it? once a day x 7 days?

Thanks for the recommendation, muffindowd! I ordered the video on Amazon and just tried level 1 this morning. I did it with 2lb weights and she totally kicked my butt. I LOVE that the cardio is all basically brainless and in short spurts. I have some of the Turbo Jam dvds, and although they''re a great workout, sometimes it''s just too much coordination/thinking required for an early morning workout.
