Hey scorpion! More facets does not necessarily = more brilliance. I've had the opportunity to analyse diamonds with more than that of round and find the same thing ... wrong angles = terrible brilliancy and light return no matter how many facets. I've seen this in some Leo's, Octillions, etc.
What do you cut nuts think of the claim on his site of adding more fire and brilliance by cutting a round brilliant with extra facets?

In many of these extra facet type stones, this is just a ploy to leave more fat or bone on the beef.
They cut the stones with very deep pavilions ( note 2/3 of the diamonds weight is in the pavilion) and then to compensate for the return of light loss, put a few extra facets on it so the stone doesn't look "dead".
This benefits the cutter, and give many retailers something to hype up their stones with. Unfortunately, it's a practice similar to opening up the bacon package where the outside shows lots of red meat, only to find excessive portions of fat that you paid for, unfairly and deceptively.
Hope this helps.
