I think omicron is capricious. I know of 2 families where only half got it. Even tho no attempt was made to quarantine. So. No. I don’t think it will get everyone.

I still don't know how I have avoided it. I am not exaggerating, nearly EVERY student in my school has had it in the past 2 months. Most staff as well. I have been a prolonged "close contact" with children who are POOR mask wearers more than 30 times and still have evaded it. I went out with a co-worker on Chinese New Year for four hours, she got it and I didn't. I don't know what to think anymore.

Same!! Same!! Surrounded by 35 kid btv5 periods. Of which 30 percent have gotten it. Maybe as teachers we have built up immunity?

My DD , and mom who is 83, were both in prolonged and exposed contact and nope, didn’t get it!

@nala and @Asscherhalo_lover same here! In person teaching daily with loads of positives of kids and colleagues and still I’m good. I do think our immune systems are hardy due to the exposures we have every day/all day.

Husband and I are both triple vaccinated with Moderna. He tested positive for covid, but I never did. He didn’t have any symptoms. It was found during a routine screening before a medical procedure.

As far as we’re concerned the vaccines worked as advertised.

I agree. Plus even if most of us will get it hopefully it will be super mild. Because the vaccinated generally get a very mild version. And the main objective of the vaccine (no matter what someone else might state) was to prevent severe disease and death. NOT to prevent everyone from getting Covid. That was never the objective.

Hey Missy, just wanna say that I'm not here to antagonise you, ruin your day or anything like that and get no pleasure from arguing over the internet, that's not the highlight of my day.
I have no agenda whatsoever (joined the forum for the sparklies and did not read this section for years), mostly concerned with the safety of these vaccines and have my own opinion about mandates.

God forbit if you said that, the thought police are watching!

Remember what they've said when the vaccines started rolling, that the protection will be around 95%.

Yes, because the assumption was that everyone who could get it would, but here we are.

Look at what is happening in states where everybody got it. Israel comes to mind...
Also, when it rains do you get wet if I don't open my umbrella? (it's already a meme)

Can you link the study that states what's happening in Israel?

Thanks Gloria. And same. I don’t mind discussing this and in fact I do it not to change your mind but to educate those who might be on the fence. Thanks for participating and sharing your thoughts.

Agreed. And if everyone who could have gotten vaccinated did get vaccinated the pandemic would have been over a long tome ago. IMO

What do you all think about what happens as far as efficacy five to six months after the booster. Do you think we’re still protected. I’m a little over five months since I had the booster. I’m curious to see what you all think. FYI I’m 68 years old.

It's impossible to vaccinate everyone, think about it, it would take many months and by the time it's done, there's a new variant. If not in your state, it will come from another state.
That is why UK gave it up, in order to vaccinate everyone every few months, it would take the NHS to divert all the resources to do this and then what about the other people who are under treatments or have emergencies?

No it was not impossible. Too many people didn’t want to get vaccinated. That was and is the problem.

Did you test? Lol you know it’s confusing but I’m not ready to get a fourth because I’m not sure it’s necessary yet. If you haven’t tested do it and see where you are. I know we don’t know how to interpret all the tests but we can interpret some.

No I didn’t @missy..I don’t want to go get tested because I don’t want to get exposed! Haha

But to get vaccinated same risk. Just wear an N95 or KN95 or something equally protective. You’ll be there a short time. Your risk will be low

I don't want to get vaccinated, I won't risk the side effects short or long term, I have reasons.
So far I took my chances, protected myself as much as I could and never got infected.
Half my family did take it (Pfizer), I never complained or tried to persuade them not to, we are all adults.
My problem is forcing people to get it against their will, with these mandates, it's just stupid. Especially now when it's clear this thing mutates so fast, we will never be able to keep up, it spreads with or without vaccines.
I will not get a subscription to vaccines, to me this is ridiculous.

If the great majority of the population got vaccinated it wouldn’t have had time to mutate.

It is impossible to vaccinate the whole planet at once or at all, think of the logistics alone. We will always have variants, for various reasons.

There are many many countries with high rates of vaccination, we can see there are still cases. We will have to live with this.

Still waiting for that Israel study…

Most of my friends/colleagues are vaccinated with Moderna because that's what we had from the beginning. Two colleagues have had it since Christmas. Both young, healthy. One said she was pretty miserable for days 2 and 5, then better. One was entirely better by day 3 and anxious to come back to work (but her antigen was still positive so she had to stay out longer).

So not a medical article or peer reviewed study. Got it.

He is discussing officially released data, with references from official gov sites.
And no, don't think the studies from Israel were peer reviewed but they were based on official data.
I never said they were. You can choose to dismiss whatever you want.
