other than what he currently does or anything in the jewelery/gem profession, what would you choose and why?

(see DF, this is what you get for asking a rerun question today.)

Oooh is Tgal heading towards 10,000 posts?

I would want my husband to work in a job where he feels valued. He is currently going through selection for his dream job so hopefully he will get what he really wants.

Maisie, at the rate I go, I''ll get there sometime in 2010.

I have no idea how some people rack up that many posts in a year. I feel like I talk a lot on this forum, but somehow, there are more chatty posters than me!!

Wow, good question! I really have no idea though. He is totally suited to being an engineer and engineers make pretty comfortable salaries (or we will in a few years) so I think it''s a good choice. He would do equally as well as a research scientist, which isn''t too far off from what he''s currently doing as an R&D engineer.

He would make a great basketball coach; I''m not sure if that counts as a "job", but hopefully when we have kids he''ll be able to fulfill that dream a bit.

Wow Maisie, I just looked at your post count...for some reason I thought you were over 10K already.

If you and I aren''t there after a number of years, I can''t imagine how much people talk on here to do it in a little over a year. That''s crazy!

I have a feeling that is cheating though!

Anyway, since I can''t just leave it at that, I''ll answer the question and say my choice (selfishly) for now would be some kind of construction/builder handy man type. Would come in SO handy for buying and fixing up a house!! It''s always nice when your partner has a job with perks.

Uhm, pub owner. Why not? He''d be his own boss at least, and wouldn''t necessarily face unemployment issues like he does every year now.

Id want FF to be a teacher. He has such a passion for computers, and I feel like being a teacher would be a good outlet for his non-stop energy. I think he''d really enjoy teaching computer science.

I guess Kinetic Art since he has a degree in Sculpture but it is difficult to make a living being an artist. Hopefully someday we will have saved enough money so he can do that; he actually made something for someone a year ago and always finds it rewarding. eta: or some computer programing class that has to do with art.

I would have to say movie voice-over guy. When we were dating in college, my roommates made him record our answering machine message because he has such a great voice!

My DH is a total kid magnet so I''d say something involving kids. Either that or a clown

Hmmmmm - well, I''ve always thought the perfect man for me would be a Veterinarian who does hair (to take care of my kitties and give me a blow out everyday).

Steph - My husband totally imitates the movie voice-over guy and was crushed when he died. That would be a good one for my DH too.

Now I''ll answer the question

... I think DH would make a great lawyer or politician. He has many of the same qualities that make my sister & her husband successful lawyers ... and the craftiness/schmoozability of smarmy politicians!

We''ve been over why my post count is so high. And it''s not very often that I''ll just post an emotie.

If I had to choose a profession for FI, I''d say...video game designer/analyst (as in all of the computer coding), a government data analyst or have him start a no-kill animal shelter/sanctuary. He''s a hard one to place, and with him questioning his future in academia lately, it''s become something I''ve put far too much thought into.

Unfortunately, I wish I could come up with something for myself...anything.

Professional golfer. He''s very good. Wins lots of amateur tournaments, might as well make some money at it.
