It really depends on where you live.Madam Bijoux said:No, because you just don't know what people are up to these days. A person who travels with large suitcases should carry enogh money to take care of emergencies. The days of depending on the kindness of strangers are over.
If you have car trouble or a flat or other problem someone will stop around here and offer to help.
I have changed dozens of tires over the years for people.
Just a couple days ago I fixed a lady's car for her in a parking lot.
The battery cables were lose in the battery end and corroded.
A 15 minute fix to a problem that left the car totally dead.
There are some areas of my city where I would not stop to pick someone up and others where I would not hesitate.
But I would not advise a lady by herself in a car to do so.
The sheriffs department does offer emergency rides as well as rides home from bars for people who drink to much to drive on a limited bases as time allows.
On holidays they have 3 extra deputies on duty just to give rides and they also have a contract with some of the cab companies for discounted fares.
I do keep a city bus schedule in my car for the city bus and point people to the bus for a ride. There are some people that constanty ask for rides in a grocery store parking lot nearby.
They get pointed to the bus which has a stop right there.
