cert, is that enough to know that the stone matches the cert. Or should I get an independent appraisal?

Get an independent appraisal...especially if it's just you, your stone and a loupe.

Also, clarity in the IF - VVS2 range can be very difficult to see/compare - sometimes even for an experienced person with a 'scope.

Fork out a few $ to let an experienced gemologist/appraiser put you at ease.

With all due respect, just because you can locate the inclusions within your diamond and match them up to the lab report doesn't mean that you know what you're looking for and have the experience to decide what effect those inclusions are having on the diamond... Spend a little money to have the diamond verified and evaluated by an independent gemologist who has the experience to really look at the diamond on your behalf.
