The other week, the domain name, trademark and attached rights of diamond.com were sold to ice.com for a value of 7.5 mio$. link

It makes me wonder about the value of pricescope.com, and that of successful e-tailers, like we know around here. Anyone care to estimate?

They did manage $50 milliojn sales and would have a good data base of clients.
And $7 million annually advertising should have created a few % name awareness.

The 50 mio sales is for the total of Odimo, thus diamond.com, ashford.com and worldofwatches.com

According to the company statements 31% of gross sales are diamond sales, thus a turnover of around 15 mio probably for diamond.com. On the 50 mio sales, there is a net loss of about 24 mio$.

The domain name, DiamondExpert.com, alone is prolly worth at least US$1M, don''t U think Paul!

I would not be surprised. Now, we just have to pump up these sales (do not worry about profit), and your reward will come, Gary.

If they are spending 7 million to advertise for 50 million in sales, how much money are they loosing? There is not that much margin on diamonds on the net.

LOL! I gotta figure out how to get someone to pay me to loose a bunch of money. Dang, that is a great scam...

I thought the sale came with a condition..., 7.5 mil. for the name plus 2.0 mil. for the inventory, no?
