Idle mind, tonight honestly.

Not sure how to do a poll... so bear with me. (Failed miserably. Someone tell me how, please?)

If you had a 6 x 6 mm asscher with small (think just an X) windmills.... which setting would you pick?

1) Baguette halo with tapered baguettes on side (please ignore the pave band)

2. Adwar copy of this Daniel K split crown.

Without a doubt I''d pick Option 1 "halo with tapered baguettes" just because it looks more "fluid" so to speak. My 2cts.

This one''s easy....for me, anyway. Baguette halo with bag sides. No contest!

I''ll be idle with ya! I LOVE the Daniel K split crown! It is very much like this Richard Landi setting that I like:

ooh I am in the minority here! I would chose #2. I like the look of #1, but I don''t really like baguettes. I think the look of the halo is gorgeous but I also love the split crown with double prongs!! Gotgeous for an asscher!!

Oh I saw that one in the other thread! I think it''s stunning. But then I am GA GA over east west ovals-- and like the look of both the split shank and the split crown-- so of couse I want it!

The bad thing for me is that I am gettig a round, and I think it takes a pretty big round to look good in one of those settings.

hmm neither because with (1) you'll probably have the same issues that isaku is having and (2) i think that 6x6 is too small for a split shank.

i'd do a ring like kaleigh's with a halo on it. that thing looks huge!

Mara, I was wondering about the size issue for the split crown, too. I am thinking it would look great with about a 2 ct. round, but I am not looking for a stone that big. It is much harder to choose settings online than diamonds, I think.

Mara. LOL. I don''t have Isaku''s issues. I know Quest will do the baguette halo right. So I''m not worried. I promise!

I love Kaleigh''s setting... but my mom has a pave halo on her round... and I really don''t want to do the mother-daughter twin thing.... I''d never hear the end of it. LOL.

well in that case, i say #1 for sure. i love the visuals on that setting! i don''t really love #2 with a 6x6 stone...i''d only put a biggie in there!

DS a round. I saw a split SHANK made for a round (copy of the Daniel K split shank-- not this one)-- it was *I think* made for a 1.5 carat round. And it was delicate but had SO much bling and the diamond was DEFINITELY not going to be overshadowed by it. $1100 for 18K. Yummy. I''d go for it if I had a round. Cause like I said... no pave halos for me (not for a diamond anyway)... my mother cornered the market on that one.

SO... except for Sophie-- who is a self-professed baguette snubber
2.gif
-- everyone genuinely prefers the ''fluid'' look (love that description!) of baguette halo.

So far anyway

Oh wait. DS''s vote was

you said you loved the split shank... but not sure about the size... so... not sure what your vote is...lol. But I am enjoying being idle with you!

Hi Gypsy

I''m so relieved to hear that you won''t have "my issues"

You''re certain that Quest can do the baguette halo without a glitch?? Have you got pics that you''re not sharing of similar projects that Pete''s finished???
3.gif

I seem to remember that you have already prepared a PowerPoint demo and 2 pages of documentation. Maybe that inspires confidence; in that area you''re way ahead of me.

Btw as you''ve probably guessed, my choice is #1 all the way. You go first, okay??

well, you probably know which one I like
2.gif
. as for it working it with your size asscher. there''s a picture around here of the split crown with a 1 carat cushion and it still looked lovely. everything was just "daintier." I''d be curious to see how the adwar compares but if it has that dainty feel I think it would look beautiful with your stone.

The main reason I won't have your 'issues' (LOL) is because A) I live 3 hours away... if I need to I'll drive down there B) I clicked with Pete and had good communication with him (plus there is the PP presentation), you didn't have that and C) I really do think that if I am unhappy they will remake it. No I don't have similar work to compare to.... but for the reasons above... I don't really need to have it to feel comfortable.

I'll go first... break'm in for you. But it's gonna be a while. We jointly decided to put wedding planning first and we are having east coast and west coast reception issues. Our 7 year anniverary just passed. It really highlighted priorities for us. Although...lol. I'm am trying to talk him out of the receptions altogether... saves money.. .gets us married... and um. I could get my setting before the wedding.

NEW DOG PICTURE !!!!

Cool-- Safari dog!

I remember the pics you posted with the size comparisons. It looked very nice with even the smaller diamond that''s what got the wheels turning. I was thinking about just buying it from a jeweler around here without diamonds... just the way it is. Hopefully with a return policy. To see if I like it. Don''t know if that''s a good idea though.

Well, Sophie, Mrssalvo and I all like the Daniel K! However, I agree that we''d need to see an example with a stone your size to know for sure. I like the other one, too, and it would make the stone look larger. So you can''t lose there either.

Sorry, there was a time delay before I hit submit on that last post. I vote for the ring and skip the receptions! Haha!

For a diamond with small corners the halo is great it expands the corners.
For a diamond with 22-24 corners the other would be the one I prefer.
Im not that into halos but they have a place.

While I would likely get the #2 that halo is perfect for your asscher.

Hmm... the asscher king has spoken. And he doesn''t even like Halos.

Still torn though. lol. Good thing the decision is a while off.

I like option #1, if the bags which I love, seemed up a lil' more fluidly. It might just be the pic to me, but it seems like; stop - go - stop -go.

I love option #2.

Would do it in a

Both settings are lovely, but I'd vote for the first one. There is just something so classy about those baguettes with the asscher! By the way, idle hands need diamonds!!!

LOL. I agree. I definitely need more diamonds. Of course... the argument could be made that hands-- idle or otherwise-- need diamonds. Especially PSer hands.

#1 is my pick!

For some reason I don''t really care for the DK split shank with double claws - they look a bit too ''swoopy'' like an eagle''s talons
9.gif
and I get this image of a little mouse being held captive by big talons when I see the DK split shank with double claws

LMAO. Vivid and very visceral reaction there. Wow. Funny thing is that I''ve had that reaction to some claw prongs... not to the Daniel K (only because of MrsSalvo''s pics of the setting IRL, the pearlman''s photos definitely does lend itself to that)... but there have been a few that I''ve thought that about and it was a concern of mine about the adwar.

But I will stay focused... as charged.
2.gif
Thanks Jade!

for what it''s worth.. i vote for #1 also!
9.gif

i find it a most elegant setting, although i''m curious what the setting looks like from the side? i don''t quite remember

#2, the setting just seems a bit too chunky for the stone, especially looks overwhelming from the side view to me

one thought re: daintier...what size are your hands gypsy?

i ask this because jorman''s ring is dainty (1.4c asscher i think) and stunning on her, and looks huge on her hand. she has small hands and her finger is like size 5.75 i think. anyway, when i put her ring on my paw, i wear a size 6 (but can get her ring on easily)...it looks dainty and really SMALL. totally not my thing on my hand, but on HER it looks FAB and really ''right''.

so i''m not personally a fan of dainty on all hands, so what size are your paws?

Lol!

Yes I saw the pics of the ring on mrssalvo's fingers and the ring looks good on her fingers, but her fingers are so nice any ring will look nice on it!

I think it's just the internet magnified pics that looks too swoopy to me. That's one thing I always have to remind myself about - everything is so magnified in pictures it is easy to focus on little things.

I can't wait till you get your ring done! I know how impt it is to 'click' with your jeweller, and can understand why isaku didn't take the plunge with Quest, so to say.

xoxo

ETA: I burst out laughing when I saw mara's question about 'what size are your paws' - my mind is just going everywhere today! I got an image of a big brown bear
41.gif

LMAO. My paws are well... I''m not sure anymore. My original appraisal says the ring is a size six. The second says six and a half. I noticed this last night. And I haven''t gotten measured in a while. But I''ve always THOUGHT I was a six in these thicker bands and a 5.75 in thin ones.

I think I''m just going to *have* to go to a jewelry store and check... and um... you know.. browse. LOL.
