Question: I am getting a 1.5ct 5 stone from IDJ. I have talked to Lana and she said I would be getting F/G SI1 "ideal cut" stones. I am 100% fine with that. I thought that I had read that those stones selected were stones that you could easily see arrows in? Am I wrong? Just waiting to confirm with her, if anyone who has had an IDJ 5 stone made, did you specifically request h&a or are PS quality diamonds good enough? Thanks:)

Ideal and Excellent cut round diamonds all display pretty good arrows in all the viewers. They usually have some version of hearts on their pavilions with an H&A viewer, too. Those who sell H&A diamonds are very, very specific about every little detail of how the hearts and the arrows should look. You really must get deep into the quasi-science of the subject to understand the real from the imaginary benefits of H&A. Part of H&A is factual. High symmetry and a certain range of relative proportions create these images. When perfected hearts and perfected arrows are present, the diamond is going to be an excellent cut and very attractive. However, when H&A of somewhat lesser merit are there, few people other than those sellers of H&A can see much difference. Yes, there is a material and factual difference in the H&A pattern and shapes, but CAN YOU or anyone else, see it when the diamond is worn on someone's finger? That's where doubt enters.

We all encourage buying well cut diamonds because the ultimate look of a diamond, especially a round diamond, is vastly controlled by the quality of cutting and proportions. Most of us fully understand that few GIA XXX diamonds are the very best of cut diamonds, but they are close to the best and very distant from the worst. Nearly all GIA XXX diamonds look very lovely. It is up to each consumer to try to understand that diamonds graded by AGSL as 000 cut are closer to the bullseye of the best cut. Paying the premium for them is not on everyone's wish list. It all makes sense, supply & demand meets the reality of your budget.

Thank you:)

Can tell you that my earrings from IDJ does indeed have visible arrows even without a loop. They're not super big .62 &.63 but eye clean up close and does the job on the ear.

They're GIA XXX and I think that IDJ does a good job weeding through these to find the very best they can.

That said, if hearts AND arrows are very important, its probably best to go with branded stones. What I got met my criteria to a T.

Thanks! I think I just got confused because I have read posters say they can see arrows in their IDJ stones, not that they are branded hearts and arrows. Can't wait to see my ring!
