IDJ eternity band

I want to buy an IDJ eternity band for my April birthday. I think I want .10 stones. I see it listed as G-H Si stones; when you ask for "ps" quality stones is that different? What is the PS discount?

Mine was 8 stones of .12's and I have FG w SI clarity. I just told Luann I found them from being on PS and asked for PS quality stones... eye clean. I love my U prong band! Its in 14K wg.

Be careful because you really need to make sure they are eye clean to your standards. After HOT's experience I would tread carefully. If you want VS stones you will pay more for them. I don't think Yekutiel is giving "PS quality" stones at non PS quality prices if you kwim.

I would suggest also getting a quote from ERD. They have always quoted me f/g vs melee. They are also closer to idj pricing than bgd or wf.

I'll keep this short and simple. I ordered a U prong eternity and the stones were set at different angles. The diamonds were nice but the stones were set badly.

And after seeing these 2 threads I feel ERD would have been a better choice for an eternity.

I felt horrible for HOT and her experience. And I think that I've read about one or two more posters that have had issues with the stones not being 'eye clean', but I've also read many many threads where the posters have been very happy with their IDJ eternities. IIRC, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I the issue with HOTs ring wasn't initially the quality of the setting,though I know there was a mishap when a stone was later replaced, but the eye cleanliness of the stones. I'd feel comfortable using IDJ so long as I requested VS stones.

I've never had a wedding ring because I've never been able to decide what I want, and I keep changing my ering so it seemed pointless, but recently DH and I have been discussing an eternity for my RH. I've been browsing both ERD and IDJ and I think that I would be comfortable using both.

I'm not sure if you have spoken to someone from ERD. If you haven't called them, give them a ringy-dingy. I never go by their website - I usually e-mail Chris A. and say, "I want this.... Please quote..."

They work with yellow and rose gold. You just need to request pricing.

I would say that you need to ask for VS if you go with IDJ. We have seen multiple examples of stones that were not eyeclean now, and I couldn't handle less than excellent prongs. I honestly would go with WF because you know you are getting the best cut stones, eyeclean VS, and excellent setting. I haven't seen many here from ERD, but I would probably go with them next after WF.

I love the openness of the U setting, the shared prongs are well done and there was only 1 stone that had a visible inclusion using a 10x loupe (IIRC...) overall, it is a wall of fire and I'm very happy with it. PLUS I discovered a stone w SB fluorescence! Bonus!!

If IDJ is still in the running, Yekutiel or Luann are very open and easy to talk to and if you were to share your concerns about what you've read on PS... I'm sure they'd do their best to reassure you and provide you with a ring you'd be thrilled with. As others have said, be clear you want PS quality stones and VS clarity - eye clean from 8" (or whatever you pick).

I dunno, I don't hold it against them - a lot of the more affordable places have a lower-quality default that they're willing to upgrade for a little extra cash. LOGR does the same, right? And I don't think you need a secret handshake: you just need to know to ask, and the lower prices are kind of a tip-off. Just my opinion, though.

I'm sad to hear HOTs didn't turn out well - I was supposed to eyeball it, but my own screwed-up thing took so long that I didn't get down to 47th in time. Argh, that must be frustrating: going to try to hunt down her thread myself to see what went down. Man, I hope it's salvagable, after all the effort.
