OK, so I bought a diamond on eBay! LOL!

I bid on it as the price was sooooo low - and to my utter astonishment, I won!

I figured if I didn''t like it, I could get it set in an inexpensive ring setting & re-sell it on eBay... but... it''s beautiful!!

My first surprise (as a colour sensitive white-lover) was that it is J colour... and this doesn''t put me off it one bit. I can *see* the colour, but it''s so bright & sparkly, it is still beautiful. (I still don''t think I''d be brave enough to choose an I or J for an e-ring upgrade, but maybe there''s hope for me!).

As long as I don''t put it next to my F e-ring stone, it looks just fine!

So, it''s 0.33cts, J VS2... and bursting with sparkles - and I have no idea what to do with it! Whatver it is will be yellow gold, as that''s just my thing - but I would LOVE some ideas please!

I''m kind of leaning towards a pendant... but the stone looks so dinky I''m not sure if it''s big enough (although I previously had a 0.25ct RB pendant).

Please inspire me with your ideas & photos... this sweet little diamond needs a pretty bit of jewelery to live in!

Thank you!

Nice find! Post some pictures for us to enjoy! I think there would be a lot of options for it.

Thank you so much for your replies, and my apologies for not getting back to you with thanks or pictures.

My camera stopped talking to my computer, so I''ve had to buy a memory card adaptor to get the pictures off it... didn''t seem much point in teasing you by dragging this thread to the top without having any pics to show for it!

So.. here we go!

First pic looks far more yellow than in real life...

This is much more representative of the whiteness you can see...

And a warmer photo...

Funny how different the colour looks in all the photos.

Hard to take pictures as it''s only 0.33ct... but it''s a pretty little diamond. The sparkles really don''t come across in the photos.

I only paid about £60 - so I''m pleased with it!

For years I had a similar issue with my little e-ring diamond. Too small to really do much with on its own. Recently I purchased a 4 ct aqua and asked the designer to work a couple of diamonds into the design. She did so, and quite beautifully. The little e-ring diamond is on the bottom (see avatar) and an orange diamond I got on eBay (just like you!), is at the top.

So, I suggest hanging on to it, and working it into a pendant design some day for extra bling.

That''s a lovely idea Fly Girl, thankyou!

Your pendant is beautiful, as well as unique - and so eye catching! Is it yellow gold?

I actually have a reaaaaaally pretty 1ct pear-cut pink sapphire too, which needs a home - so I wonder if I could use both together?

I would set it in a simple white gold solitaire pendant on a long chain and let it dangle freely.

It look lovely! Great find. Enjoy!!

Yes, stack them! I''d probably put the diamond pear point facing downward in a bezel with the necklace part running through it and then the pink sapphire just a couple of chain links down, point facing upwards.

I really like the halo pendant idea

Cleo, you got one heck of a deal there, I LOVE IT!!!!! I vote even more strongly for the halo pendant having now seen the diamond!!!

Thank you, Cleo. I had a 18k yellow gold chain that I wanted to wear this on, so the setting is mostly 18k Yellow gold. One of the bars at the top is 14k white gold. The thinking was then I could wear the pendant on a white metal chain as well, for more versatility.

Thank you Cachette, Addy, LegacyGirl, Lorelei & Flygirl!

Can you believe I walked into a local B&M (not the same one that botched my ering - which incidentally is already loose in its setting) and they quoted me £300 for a simple bezel setting.

This was AFTER I had to explain to her what a bezel setting was.

After further chat she announced she really didn''t like Old Mine Cut diamonds (bad idea, as potentially I could have had ten of them at home) to which I asked her if she had seen any really well cut ones.

She was then quite huffy and told me she was a ''qualified jeweller'' (whatever that means) and that she had seen a lot of diamonds in her life. *rolls eyes*

I couldn''t quite see how they could custom make a shaped 18kt white gold wedding ring for my sister for £200, yet a tiny weeny bezel set pendant would be £300!

Needless to say I won''t be going back in there. Revolting woman.

I think she might have been peeved because my 1ct solitaire was nicer than hers.

Lorelei - thankyou!!!! I''m glad you like it and thought it was a bargain. I thought so too and I love it - but it means a lot coming from you!

FlyGirl - I can see the two colours of gold now that I look - what a brilliant idea! I love being able to mix colours of metals together, but never felt comfortable doing it until I got my Cartier Panthere watch. It''s the two stripes of gold version, so it has stainless steel and yellow gold - and now I feel I can wear either or both! Your pendant design is so pretty: it makes me think of Egypt for some reason..

There''s a nice gold designer place in Auckland, so I may have to take my stones to NZ with me and see what I can get out there...

Cleo, you are too kind! I truly think that is an exquisite diamond, and you got a real bargain, that pear is right up my alley!

I am not surprised about the price you were quoted unfortunately, but I hope you can find somewhere that is reasonably priced to set that baby!

Hey, we need peetures of your watch, I have been fancying a Tank recently....

Wish I could work out how you get your image size under 100k without the photos looking like postage stamps.

Everyone else seems to do it! Any Photoshop experts care to help?! :)

Thankyou!!!! I wear it eeeeeevery day and I still love it, which is a good thing! It''s the tiniest size one they did, which is great because I have the weeniest wrists ever. Big watches look very silly on me! Even the lady at Cartier was surprised how small I had it made when she brought it back into the room after the links were removed...

Yes it was a very special pressie to me, from me!

I bought it about 4 years ago.. and it still hasn''t needed a new battery *touch wood*. Not looking forward to having to send it back to Cartier when it goes flat and getting a bill for £200 or whatever for serviceing it. *Ouch!*

I think you need a Tank too. Go on, you know you want to!!! :)

Muahahahahaaaa! :)

I wanted to add to this thread as I updated my ering thread too, as I had a bit of an idea.

As my original ering mount is going to be redundant now (as it basically got trashed during two bad mounting attempts) I thought it would still be nice to use the gold from it - so I would still have the original ring, in a way, just as another piece of jewellery.

I sort of thought about having it melted down and made into a circle-shaped pendant, which could somehow have my 1ct pink sapphire at 6 o''clock and the 0.33ct diamond at 12 o clock.

I don''t know how this would work in reality, and don''t have the skills to make a decent drawing... but thought I''d throw it out there as an idea!

If anyone''s artistic or could expand on the idea of recycling my ering gold with these stones, then that would be great. Otherwise, feedback is always gratefully received!

Like a double drop pendant?

More like this... but with a thicker circle. Couldn''t figure out how to change the circle width! :)
