Ideas for what to do with these diamonds?

Hi PSers.

I have had my Grandmother''s wedding ring for several years. I''m looking for something to do with the marquise diamonds. I''ve attached a few pictures of them. As a general rule, marquise is not my favorite cut of diamond, but I''d like to do something with them.

I''m not sure of the size of the diamonds, but they are graduated. The color seems decent and they sparkle nicely. As you can tell, I''ve already had the round diamonds removed and set in a pair of earrings.

I''m open to getting them reset as a pendent, another ring, earrings...

How about a pendant similar to this as a star or even a flower... and if you get a nice sapphire or other colored stone for the middle to make it different. Hope this helps!

I like this idea! Then put the largest in a pendant

I have always loved this ring by Leon Mege, maybe you could change the angle of the diamonds so it wraps more around your finger...?

I actually bought a pair of sapphire studs that I never really wear. I could take one of them and maybe make it into a killer pendent. Perhaps a little flower or something. Or maybe a RHR ring with the flower. Do you think I have enough diamonds to do it?

I also like the idea of the earring jacket...I don''t really have many plain studs though...so I don''t know how much I''d be able to wear it...hmmmmm.

Given the graduated sizes, anything ought to be a custom piece - it rounds unlikely that any setting off the rack would fit them.

A seven-petal flower would be lovely, of course - with sapphire center since you have them... why not.


Recently I became quite fond of a certain kind of patchwork mix and match pave - like this ring has. The design feels like a challenge to fit small diamond and colorful dots on a ring at whim.

Staring with a couple of sapphires and marquises, and assuming a few pointer dots if deemed suitable - yours could end up with a leaf design. Who knows...
