What to do with all the tanzanite? I have a beautiful parcel of deep purple-blue tanzanite and am not sure what to do with them. Any suggestions? There are multiple shapes, emerald, cushion, round, trillion, pear....
Those look like a lot of fun coming! What sizes are they, generally? That would help with ideas for them. And welcome to PS, btw -- it's a dangerous place to be if you're buying stuff like that....you can catch an addiction.
Thanks Jewelfreak. The stones are much larger than the picture shows, they range from 5-7 carats each. I have enough to make a necklace or bracelet and a pair of earrings and ring.
I would definitely do dangly earrings too with maybe even diamonds as the studs and the tanzanite pears as the dangles. You could mix some diamonds with the tanzanites into a fancy necklace/choker with a "diamonds in a midnight sky" look. Lucky you!
Yum! lucky lady to have such a delicious decision.
I could see a pair of cushion earrings with pear drops - perhaps detachable? Upper right in the photo.
Select your favourite from the remainder and put aside for a ring.
Then depending on your lifestyle perhaps a DBTY type necklace which can have mixed stone shapes but I would save the shield in front for a pendant just to have different neck options.
Bracelets are notoriously hard on gemstones all the way around, so perhaps something like the attached picture appeals? It's also a good idea to put a heavy charm at the clasp to stop the gem from always ending up underneath if set on a chain.
Do you prefer silver, white or yellow gold? Do you envisage any diamonds or melee or a different colour?
it would be some serious heavy bling, but how about a pair of chunky earrings - the sort that they usually only make with rhinestones.
like this one - out on a cocktail date and hair up, it'd be spectacular! and if you were a pearl kind of girl, the color of your tanzanites would go pretty with some ivory pearls!
This is a photo of my fancy yellow and champagne necklace which may give you another style. I don't know what size your stones are but if they are larger, you may do a chunkier version??
Sorry the crappy photo makes the colour of the stones look dreadful but you can get the idea. I also have matching earrings and a ring.
this is better representation on an SMS the jeweler sent me
I would pick your favorite as a ring stone, your favorite pair for earrings, and then the rest for a knockout necklace. I'd halo the ring and earring stones with diamonds to make them pop, and then incorporate small diamonds in your necklace.
If you have daughters, I would make a ring for each of them too.
