I recently purchased this gorgeous little diamond. Specs are Q/R VS1 roughly 5mm. I want to turn it into a gorgeous antique style ring. Problem is I’m totally stumped. I’ve been searching for the perfect setting but nothing is quite right. I need ideas! I want to play up the color and the size. C6C7D04A-6E6E-41BC-8AF3-9C5D656EE221.jpeg

Pretty stone! What is your budget for the ring and do you have ring inspirations?

I have an amazing jeweler who can pretty much do anything in my budget. I’m just lost on what to do. My initial thought was a target ring in yellow gold (my jeweler can’t do this one but I found these amazing settings online) however I don’t think that the lemony yellow would look good in a target ring. I want to play it up and not down. My other ideas are a yellow gold bezel with white halo. This is easy enough but I was torn between airline or no airline and then I was thinking that it may look weird with brilliant cut mellee. I did find a gorgeous engraved brushed finish setting but I’m not sure it’s right for the stone. I’m hoping for some fresh ideas on here

You could always request single cut melee too instead of brilliant cut, so pretty without overpowering the center stone. I love an airline too especially if the centerstone is in yellow gold . Sounds beautiful.

I love an airline too with the center stone in yellow gold and the halo in white. Really makes the center stone pop. Its a pretty little stone too.

MTD12120_V1.jpg I don't think brilliant cut melee will look at all odd. You are talking SERIOUSLY tiny facets. All you'll see is little balls of white, no faceting pattern. I've had both single cuts and full cuts in my halo and I much prefer the look of the full cuts with old cut centers.

I would do something like this setting. But two tone, with a yellow gold bezel around the center. And I'd add an airline, so that the halo area is bigger in proportion to the pretty side design. And if your jeweler can do a tri-wire shank, that would be perfect. View attachment 671035 MTD12757 alternate.jpg

Well this is funny because I’m about to buy an identical stone except mine is SI2. Same size. J color. And I want a halo of some kind that is not round. So this will be fun!

I actually never set it! It’s still hanging out in my jewelry box. I moved on to other projects. I’m probably going to turn it into a bezel pendent at some point

IMG_1998.JPG This is my Q OEC set in a CVB Casablanca halo. She set the stone in a yellow gold basket to enhance the color. Very vintage and beautiful.

I love this setting! Gorgeous ring.

Annette Tillander makes a beautiful solitaire that would pair beautifully with an OEC.
