Inspo from the shop I went to today. They also recommended just putting the marquise in a bezel, but I want to use the side stones if possible. DB3A36F9-3515-4D22-AC5D-51367A2FD9F1.jpeg

The first ring I saw that I really liked, but I think my stones will be too big.

Very new to jewelry, but so happy to have found this forum!!

I have a very outdated ring from my mum that I want to have reset. I popped in to a shop today to have something else looked at and while there, got some thoughts on how I could change the ring, but I wasn’t in love with any of them.

My first thought was that I want a ring for my right hand where the marquise is on its side (east west, is that what it’s called?) with stones on the sides but with a thin band - the place I went today though didn’t sell me on their ability to do that. I definitely don’t want anything that reads engagement, but am open to any ideas you all may have! I also have some small small square diamonds that could be used as accent stones.

Attaching a picture of the ring as is and a couple of ideas. Have already contacted David Klass as well after scrolling through the posts, but still need a starting point, I feel like. TIA!

I would specifically NOT bezel that marquise. It will drain it of any life and sparkle. (An assumption but a fact for most marquise)

I love your first inspiration ring with the small accent stones - it's reminiscent of Melanie Casey or Kataoka's delicate, asymmetrical sort of style.
I think it would also look gorgeous in this setting from CvB.

@Niel thank you for your comment! I’m not a fan of the bezel myself, but I mentioned preferring something more delicate and I think that may have just been a go-to option.

@foxinsox I like that one a lot too! Its hard for me to imagine how it would look with the different shape, but I’m hopeful it would work if that’s the direction I go!

I would look at Marrow Fine on instagram for some inspiration- they do a lot of reworks and also do a decent amount of asymmetrical rings- this was one marquis ring stack (which is pretty engagement/wedding band looking) but they have some cool spray style rings.

You could go the botanical route but with more metal work rather the additional smaller marquis here D2B8C4BB-6222-48EA-ACF8-1CF198F2BCFE.jpeg

This is a bezel which I know you don’t want but you could do a non bezel version of this metal /side stone halo and turn this East West 0A2342DA-54E8-47DE-AA17-0175674E4472.jpeg

You could ask DK if it would be possible to elongate this type of arabesque style halo to fit a marquis and use your existing side stones E325C6C1-54D1-45B3-B466-A55BD0313C63.jpeg 6C8B9AE0-950C-4A2C-A93F-DF01852383FF.jpeg

@dtnyc Thank you!!! I love the arabesque halos and the set of stacking rings! I’m much more interested in the solo marquise after seeing that option. I didn’t want to ‘waste’ any of the stones so I like the idea of making a small second ring! I think the short height of a sideways marquise makes it a bit less wedding-y too, plus it’s pretty small size wise!
