Ideas for an aquamarine/light sapphire engagement ring

That first setting from Blue Nile reminds me of one that I like from Brian Gavin Diamonds--they have it in rose gold set with a morganite but I believe it's a stock setting from somewhere; you could certainly contact them to ask if you like it. Or perhaps Brian Gavin could source you a sapphire in color you'd prefer and do the ring for you?

I've spent some time looking at settings and stones with my boyfriend, and we have found something beautiful. However, I am not sure if this is the best option 'bang for your buck' wise. I've made a custom ring on Natural Sapphire Company for this setting and stone :

The setting is around 1000$ US, and the stone is 0.7 Ct - 500$ US, for a total of 1500$ US. Since I am Canadian and have to add 30+% on top of the price, I was wondering it this was the best site option. I am also keeping in mind that buying a loose stone requires shipping it to my home, then back to another place for the setting, then shipping again once the ring is completed, which might add up in trouble and cost. Does this sound like a good option or not?

Getting the stone and setting from separate vendors is totally legit. Are there any local jewelers that arn't big chains nearby? Different places have different policies, but setting outsides stones is fairly common frm my experience. You could drop by and inquire

It's beautiful. I've found a jewelry nearby which uses the Stuller settings, so I will try to see if I can get a similar setting to the one I found on Natural Sapphire Company. If not, does it seem like a good quality/price ratio for the stone and the setting?

I found the perfect setting with Stuller, and the jewelry shop close to me can do it! This is very exciting All that's missing is now the sapphire. Here is one I am looking at. I am looking for a pale blue, around 0.9-1.0 carat, as the setting can take a max of 6.5 mm. Budget is around 500$.

Is it just me or in the video, there seems to be a slight mark on the left side of the gem in the first 10 seconds (for Dan's cut)?

I do like the 0.77 carat very much. Is it normal to have such a price difference between those two? 0.94 for 282 vs 0.77 for 600$?
