Is there a difference between a more red idealscope image vs a darker-medium pink idealscope image? My question is in reference to a princess cut diamond.

It could be the stone. Or it could be the lighting.

I''d bet on the second. Can you post the pics ? If they were taken in different conditions, such detail hair-splitting is not quite feasible as far as I know

Rather long ago Serghey posted some charts about just how much difference shades of Iscope red make. You might want to look that up. Or, even better, ask Garry. from what I remember of that discussion, the red -pink shades look more different than the diamonds they represent, so looking for slight details might not be that useful after all.

Just my 0.2...

Thanks for the info. I was looking at this diamond and it is posted in another post (that you replied to actually

Here is one that is more Red though not as symmetrical.

Note: Both of these diamonds are from the same vendor.

The other wasn''t there for a comparison. WF changed their photo system at some point... the first stone seems to be of the "before change" batch and the other picture looks very distorted (as if the change from one file format to another wrecked it).

As much as the two pictures show... these two guys have a slightly different facet pattern, but just as good light return !

WF has been known to provide great side-by-side pics by request. I don''t know if they like my reminding you of this

... If such a thing might help you, why not ask

The color loss is my fault, the file wouldn''t attach and I changed formats to attach it. I was just curious about the red/pink thing. I didn''t know much about idealscope and if there was some kind of color standard out there. Thanks for the info.

both should be nice stones but the first would be my preference.
The lighting is different

hi ya''ll (sorry the texan slipped out)

forgive me for asking....but i guess im still curious re: dk-med pink and a full dark red? i always understood the darker the better, the more symmetrical the coloring the better, etc. so then again is there a more visible difference between a full red and a pinker color? as per the other post, you had actually attached a picture of the actual diamond and it looks beautiful. if that stone gave off med pinks than im wondering what marvelous stone gives off those dk reds and blacks!

hey jason,
did you read through this? i think the idea is more about symmetry. no big lopsided splotches of anything.

I have never seen an ideal-scope inage where there was not at least one little bit of full total light return - so when all of an image is paler, or all of an image is darker - then the lighting / photography / adobe tricks are the cause of such differences.

Hi Jason,

The hue of the image has to do with the lighting, environment, camera and settings. One diamond photo''d in 2 different setups could have very different hues (very dark red in one...medium in another) but should show the same things in a relative sense.

Some discussion in this thread, yonder (fellow Texan)

Thanks for the info. I was curious if there really was a difference between an all pink and all red diamond. But, from what I have gathered there is not. This has really help me, thanks!
